I am 7 months post delivery of my daughter. I already had my first period 2 months ago but it only lasted a day and then nothing after that but random spotting. I am formula feeding and am on the liletta (off brand mirana). I have been having pregnancy symptoms for a while and am worried my birth control may have failed. I am now getting little flutters in my lower and mid stomach and am having other symptoms. The fluttering is an every day thing.. I have had unprotected sex since the birth control was put in. Could I be pregnant? Or is it just the after delivery plus birth control effect. Also. If I am pregnant am I required to have a Dr for the unborn child..I don't have money insurance or a vehicle to go to any kind of Dr...

What can I do next?

If you have had sex (birth control or not) you could be pregnant.

Get a cheap test. go see a doc, depending on results. If you are mercifully NOT pregnant, please get your life in order before you bring another innocent child into the mix.

**see - I restrained myself from asking her to pee on her keyboard and hold it up to the screen**

Well, almost.

First of all, if you had sex after the birth control was put in, it isn't "unprotected sex." The failure rate for Liletta is literally less than 1%. The chances of you getting pregnant are literally nearly zero.

However, nearly zero isn't zero. You certainly could purchase a pregnancy test very cheaply and find out for yourself (chances are you are just experiencing IUD symptoms).

I do think that your question regarding not having any money to get to a Dr. is a bit over the top - you are completely aware of what it takes/costs to have a child since you already have a 7 month old . . .

Good luck.

Kass, if you are lower income you can get free formula through your local health department. It's called WIC> It's a SUPPLEMENT, not enough formula for the entire month. Many moms make that assumption and run out. It's enough to last at least 3/4 of the month though.

Also, at your local health department they'll do a free pregnancy test. Yes, your birth control might have failed.

If you are lower income you might qualify for state assistance for a medical card. If you have income and it's more than they allow, in Oklahoma it's over $600 per month you can't get a medical card. If you don't have that state option then look around for low income clinics. We have a whole bunch of them in OK. Lots of rural areas have them too. They often have medical, dental, psych, and sometimes even a pharmacy program to help people get their medications through the manufacturers for a reduced cost or free.

You might also qualify to go to your local hospitals low income clinic. They almost all have them. They don't let people know because they'd try to use it and then the hospital would run out of money and staff helping out.

You need to see a doc in these times where most birth defects can be determined during pregnancy. They can do things to help the babies too, sometimes they can even fix issues before the baby is born.

It's not that hard to get help medically when you're pregnant. In OK when a lower income mom is pregnant she can even get free dental work done, within a strict guideline but still, dental work isn't normally covered at all by a state medical card for an adult.

Go to the dollar store and buy a pregnancy test.

Also, if you are pregnant go to a clinic for uninsured mothers. Prenatal care is very important for your health and the baby's health.

Best of luck.

You don't feel a baby move until about 16 weeks, 13 weeks maybe if it's not your first pregnancy.
It's more likely to be gas so try eating more fiber.
Gallbladder trouble is also common after pregnancy.
Get to your local Planned Parenthood for a blood test - if you're not pregnant there's no point in worrying.
Yeah, prenatal care is nice if you ARE pregnant - so is prenatal vitamins.
If you don't have money, insurance or a vehicle (how do your get your 7 month old to a doctor?), having another baby right now isn't going to make things any easier.

Why are you having unprotected sex if you do not want to be pregnant. You know full well that you are taking that chance when you do it.

Take a pregnancy test, call your social services organization in your city and find a Dr. for you and your 7 month old.

if you have had sex without birth control - you could be pregnant.

you need to see a doctor.

How are you caring for yourself and the child you already have?
How old are you?
HOW do get to work every day without a car?? If you use public transportation? I guess you should use that to find a doctor for yourself and your family?
What doctor is taking care of the 7 month old baby you already have??
Has that child been seen by a doctor at all???
How are you affording formula??

Sorry - I just don't get it. I have too many red flags for this post. If you can't afford yourself of the child you have? You shouldn't be having unprotected sex - even if you have an IUD - you should NOT be having unprotected sex - NOTHING is fool proof.

dollar store pregnancy test (or walmart carries them here for 88 cents) and test. if not pregnant you should to see a dr to find out whats going on. there are programs out there to assist you in getting insurance you can afford. and if you can't afford it then you should qualify for government aid (if you are in the u. s.)

If you're having sex it's possible to be pregnant even on birth control - it happens. Not often, but of course there's a slim chance. When was your IUD put in? That would be helpful.

Do a pregnancy test. If you are pregnant, you do want to see a doctor because you don't want to be pregnant and have an IUD in.

Spotting and missed periods on the IUD are entirely common. I only spot and sometimes miss my period altogether. They should have discussed this with you. You can look up the Liletta website for more info. Be familiar with side effects.

Flutters could be gas, cramping from your IUD, all kinds of things. Usually flutters come a bit later than 2 months. Just take the test then you will know.

Good luck

Yes you could be pregnant. Always use birth control! One of my good friends gave birth to her first son and was breastfeeding and --- surprise! --- She was pregnant again 3 months later. The two boys are a year apart and are best buddies...they are 11 and 12 now.

If the Planned Parenthood clinics in your state have not been closed, go there for low-cost, sliding scale care. Call them and get some advice over the phone. Do not go to a "problem pregnancy" center that advertises free pregnancy tests - you won't get unbiased advice. If you are pregnant, which it is not clear that you are, you need solid medical advice if you have an IUD in place. It's not about "being required" to have a doctor - if there's an IUD in the uterus, or if it has moved/shifted/migrated, you need to be seen.

You can also go to any hospital and ask to speak to someone about low income medical insurance. There is an office there, usually staffed by social workers, who are familiar with plans in your state. This is free. They will help you through the questions and give you good advice. There may well be services available to you and you just have no idea.

You didn't really have "unprotected sex" - you have been having protected sex using birth control, but you are afraid that it failed. So don't report that as "unprotected", just say the truth which is you have no regular periods and some symptoms.
