My daughter is coming home from college and needs an eye exam.
Can anyone recommend an affordable place to go(contacts & glasses, too).
I live in SW Arlington--but will drive to Ft. Worth if needed.

I don't know about an eye exam, but I found a really cheap online place for glasses. It is zennioptical.com They have glasses starting at $8 and really cheap upgrades for like $4.95 - like anti-reflective coating, and the shipping is only $4.95. I have not ordered from them but had a friend who did and she said she was very satisfied. She's the one who gave me the website. Good Luck!
I think the exam at the wal mart eye doctors are like 39.00. then the glasses go anywhere from cheap to expensive- whatever you need to fit your budget. My husbnd uses them all the time and we have never had any problems.
I go to WalMart. It's convenient. They have the dr.'s office right next door to the vision center where you can purchase glasses / contacts and it's not bad at all. For contacts and eye-glass exam together is like $100. And that includes your first pair of contacts.
I went to walmart for my exam and then ordered my glasses from 39dollarglasses.com they are really cute and have lasted along time. They came wth a hard case and a little bag to put them in so my total was 42.00 bucks for my glasses.
I have to agree with one of the previous responses, zennioptical.com is the cheapest place I have found to order glasses. I have order two pairs from them and love them, they do start at $8 and go up from there, I dont think they are more than $40 and that is including the lenses and frames. It is an awesome deal and a great website. When you do get your daughters eyes checked make sure they give you the PD-pupillary distance also because you will need that on the website.
Have you thought about Costco in Arlington? I had dr. Vu check my eyes, and my daughters and she was very through and helpful. The exam was very reasonable.
Then I got the glasses at the Costco optical. They were the best price in town with good quality.
You don't need to be a Costco member to get your eyes checked there. I don't think you have to be a costco member to buy eyewear and prescription lenses there.
One drawback to consider is that most places (not just Costco) take up to 10 days to get the glasses back. If you go to a quickie or one hour place they are very expensive and often use a prescription that is close to, not necessarily the exact prescription. You could mail them though, and have her get them adjusted on her end.
If you don't mind going to Ft Worth, I take my kids to Luck Optical. The take all insurance and walk ins. I don't know the price of the eye exams but they are extremely helpful.
