Okay ladies, last year we had a Halloween party for adults, and though it was fun, I found it a little boring. We did the creepy food and drinks thing, costume contest and of course had music going but no one ended up dancing. Our friends did say they had a great time and this year a few more people are coming, but I would just love some ideas on how to make this Halloween party MORE fun. I thought to maybe think of some games to play, but my husband thought this idea was cheesy and childish. So any ideas you have, I would love to hear them. Thank you!!
This is definitely work, but a lot of fun if you decide to do. Pumpkin carving...BYOP (BYO Pumpkin) and you go out and get a few of those pattern books and small carving tools. My husband and I have been doing this for years and it is always a hit. The key is having a table with a plastic tablecloth and a few large garbage cans for the pumpkin goop. Also, not everyone will be into this but bystanders will also enjoy watching. Good luck.
Personally I am with your husband. We are not into games and such.
I have been in a small bunco group (16 moms) and we have a great time. It was once mentioned for the husbands to join for Halloween and/or Halloween and that was nixed just as fast as it was mentioned.
When we have been to adult parties, we enjoy the music and socializing with friends we might not have seen in a while.
How about setting up a photo booth and if you have a camera with a dock, and you can print photos out and give to your guest. Set up a spooky back drop.. My friends love taking photos. After any get togethers I use my gmail photo account to e-mail a slideshow of the pics of the party. You could do karaoke, what about a dance contest if you can get anyone to dance. One party we all learned the cupid shuffle. I had heard of it but I didn't know how to do it. Most people like socializing though and catching up..

If you know someone who has Rock Band or Guitar Hero World Tour (new this week) -- and they can let you borrow it for the night! OMG, that was soo much fun. Everyone's inner rock star come out at this party we went to .... You can have bands of 3 people each (one guitar, one on the mic, one on the drums) and the bands can compete against each other.... they rate the band score and the individual score performance at the end of each song.
You can put your individual instrument at different levels (beginner, moderate, expert) so even beginners can do this. Even shy people participate because it's not so embarrassing to just go up and push buttons on the guitar.
So ask the friends who have Wii; Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. they may have this game. This was really a party hit!
I'm w/ your husband too. As an adult I don't really like organized party games. We had our Halloween party this past Saturday. We didn't have any games and everyone had a great time. We did have the Wii and the Karaokee machine ready in case things started getting boring, but we never ended up taking them out. Maybe that's an option for you too?!? GL!
I tend to agree with your husband. As an adult, I like to dress up and socialize, but I don't enjoy organized games with a lot of people. Let the food, drink and friends be the entertainment.
