Ads on Mamapedia

I read Mamapedia on my iPod Touch. Lately there has been an ad showing up along the left side that blocks the first three or four posts on the posts index. Also when I go to read a post, it will block the post so I can't read it. I usually have to refresh my screen anywhere from one to TEN times (and that is not an exaggeration). It is becoming very time consuming for me to read Mamapedia as well as becoming very annoying. Before I completely abandon this site, is this happening with anyone else and have you found a way to get rid of those annoying ads?

I really like this site but can't continue to spend so much time refreshing my screen to get rid of the ads. The ads are making navigating around this site impossible. :(

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm glad I'm not the only one having the problem with the ads. I don't mind ads on sites but I don't think they need to block the posts. I see them just fine at the top, sides and bottom of the page. If there is something I'm interested in, I will click on the ad but being "thrown in my face" is irritating.

I tried searching the apps for iAdkiller but nothing came up. I also searched ad remover and again nothing.

And for the poster who suggested not reading it on my iPod, I don't think my DH would appreciate me bringing the laptop to bed. I read this site after going to bed, in the middle of the night if I can't sleep or in the morning while waiting for the bathroom to be free.

I have the same problem and sent an email to Mamapedia about it. But, naturally, there has been no response! I don't even bother to read this site if I'm on my iPad

I use it with my desk top. ZERO ads:) NONE! Why don't all you people that have a problem with using it on your ipad, just NOT?

Also, like others have said, use an Ad Blocker...

AdBlock Plus and FlashBlock add ons work well with Firefox, but Firefox doesn't work on iPod.
Look for an Ad Blocker that will work for you.
There's something called iAdKiller that might be worth looking into.

Thanks for posting! I often read this on my iPhone, and it's DRIVING ME NUTS!!! Let's all let the support for this site know AGAIN (I did once last week to no avail). Millions of people use iPhones, iPads and iPods, so they need to fix it!

Running a website isn't that expensive. It's a way to rake in the cash. It was free for years without ads and it was so much better before it went national.

I get the same thing from my android phone. I have found that I can click the questions if I magnify the page and make the link behind the ad bigger. I don't have to refresh the page if i do that :-)

Yup, I'm with the other ladies, the ads block the first few posts when I read from my Iphone (I do at work on my breaks because we can't use our computers for personal use). I refresh a few times, and it works, but by then my damn break is over!! It kills me too...

I agree the ads loading are s-l-o-w-i-n-g down mamapedia. But running a website is expensive and ads pay for that.

Yeah, I wrote about this the other day. I chose to write on MP on my cell phone rather than deal with my iPad while I was out of town. And I HATE writing on my cell phone. (Tells you how much I like MP that I would put up with this.)

Have you written Mamasupport and told them this? Maybe we ALL should!

I had the same issues, which I reported. It sounds like it is a Safari issue.

Happening on my iPad 2. I suggest informing the other ad company what is happening... Funny how people fix coding problems with ads that won't allow you to click other ads if it hits the revenue!
