Acne like a Teenager!!!!

Hi moms. I am 14 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child and am having the most terrible acne. The majority of the pimples are on my forehead. In the morning after a shower my skin is so dry so I put moisturizer on and by noon you could fry chicken with the grease....I know it's icky! With my other children I didn't have this problem so I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe a new soap or moisturizer or any words of advice?

What can I do next?

Hey S.,
Congrats on the new baby! I recommend Zap-It by Melaleuca. For $14.99 [and 100% money back guarantee] it comes with a facial wash, deep cleaning astringent, a treatment cream and for on the go spot treatment and quick stick. Check it out at www.melaleuca.com. Also, while you're on the website, take a look at their prenatal vitamins. For me, these worked so much better than the vitamins my doctor gave me with both my pregnancies. They may also help your skin condition.

If you want to shop online at the PC price, give me a call.

Hi-

When I was preganat with my first son - I broke out so bad and it was sad becuase I did not want my picture taken with my new beautiful baby. I started using a product called Australian Harvest Cleanser by Isomers - within a month my skin cleared and I have been using it ever since. When I was pregnant with my second son I thought I would break out again really bad. I am pleased to say that I stayed clear!! It is worth trying, you can find the ____@____.com of Luck and Congratulations.

Your hormones are changing and your moisturizer may be mineral oil based. That's the worst kind since it doesn't penetrate your skin and actually just lays on the top surface, not allowing your skin to breathe and hence, clogging the pores.

I use a great botanically based line of product and they have an awesome acne line that has a wash, toner, moisturizer and spot treatment that doesn't leave your skin dry. You also have to be careful of products that contain alcohol. They too will dry the skin out. Witchhazel is used in this line and is very good for your skin. The set also comes with vitamins that are meant for the skin and you need extra vitamins anyway to help your child grow strong. I'd be happy to share more information with you if you'd like.

You do have to be careful of the products that you put on your skin and make sure they are safe as well. Added fragrance and chemicals will make your dry skin irritated. You have to use products that are specific for your skin - plus not too drying. Oh the joys of being pregnant. Yes, this too shall pass. Let me know how I can be of help.

It is probably hormone related, but none the less, it stinks!
The key with acne is to keep the skin clean and supple, hard to find a happy medium. I would wash with a gentle soap, maybe Cetaphil, use it moring and night. I would then use a gentle toner if you like. The next step will sound strange but it has worked for me and left my skin amazing! Take a few drops of extra virgin olive oil and rub between your palms and then pat it onto your skin. This will seal in the natural moisture your skin has as it is the same consistency as your sebum (skin oil). It is all natural and you may be a bit oily for a few days but your skin will adjust and quit producing so much oil.

What happens when your skin gets dry and tight is that your skin will then over produce oil to compensate! Depending on what moisturizer you are using it has lots of chemicals and things your skin is irritated by and just plain doesnt need!

One of the best toners you can use on your skin is apple cider vinegar. You can have beautiful skin for almost no cost at all! Don't fall into buying a product everytime something happens, your skin is reacting to all the products!

If you want anymore tips let me know, I went thru so much acne problems til i started using this method!

i had the same problem with my second baby. to be honest, no face washes or moisturizers worked for me. my grandma actually told me to put a dab of toothpaste (the white paste like colgate, not the gels like aquafresh) on each zit before bed and it would dry out the acne. it worked for me. i thought it was odd at first, but it actually smelled lovely and really worked. as far as moisturizers, i just had to give them up while i was pregnant because i would be dry in the morning and then really oily by mid-morning. i just let my face be dry. it itched, but that was the only way i could from having the overkill of greasiness when i would put on a moisturizer.

it stinks, i know. good luck. and just remember that it's all for that wonderful baby!!

I get awful acne with each pregnancy too. Hang in there - it will get better in another couple weeks (along with so many other things that disappear after first trimester)! Try an oil-free moisturizer? If you get desperate you can try that Proactiv stuff - I've heard it works really well. Mostly though, just sit tight - it will get better soon :)
