For me...Abington all the way. I loved them!!!
We're choosing between hospitals and have heard that Abington does a really high number of abortions. So, we'd like to go elsewhere and toured Holy Redeemer. Anyone have any thoughts on these two hospitals?
ALSO:
We'd have to change from Abington Women's Primary Healthcare, which we don't mind b/c they have so many doctors that I haven't been able to feel like I have connected to anyone of them. We are looking at going to the group with Drs. Stack, Ameri, Borthwick, and Dershaw. Any comments?
For me...Abington all the way. I loved them!!!
I delivered at abington & had the best experience there. The nursing staff was wonderful and the doctors at abington women's primary were wonderful. I have heard that people do not have as great an experience at holy redeemer. But that may just be individual experiences. Abington also has a newer building which most women are put in after labor & delivery and it is a very nice atmosphere. Good luck
Holy redeemer without a doubt!!!
You will only get an abortion if you ask for one. No hospital does them on the fly without your consent. If you tell the hospital, you don't want an abortion beforehand, even your husband can't decide otherwise when you are under sedation. All obgyn units except those affiliated with religious institutions perform abortions, not just Abington.
If you go to Holy Redeemer or St Mary's, they do not perform abortions. So if you have any second thoughts on the matter, you are going to hope that you have enough time to go somewhere else. Things can go south in delivery very fast.
If you are pro-life, you will live your belief and run the risk of dying on the table. Most of us (including Catholics) arent like that. We want to live. Catholic Obstetrics units are closing in the Philadelphia area because the rest of us wont take that risk. There are only two or three units left in the Philadelphia area.
It's your choice as to where you go. No one is making you do anything you don't want to.
As for me, I am going to Abington as a high risk pregnancy.
I have 3 children. I have delivered at both hospitals 2 of my children were at Holy Redeemer by Stack and Dershaw and one was delivered at Abington by Dr Carrapaletti. I hands down would go to Holy Redeemer they were great there. Abington I wasn't crazy about it, I just had a wonderful experience at Holy Redeemer. Abington probably has a high abortion rate to Holy Redeemer because HR is a catholic hospital. Also, Holy Redeemer will not tie your tubes.
I used to go to Dr. Borthwick and really liked her. I since switched just to be closer to home. I delivered at Holy Redeemer and liked it. I know a lot of people who deliver at Abington and have a good experience as well. Good luck with your decision!
I had both of my children at Holy Redeemer and they were both positive experiences. Also my ped is through that hospital and I can't say enough about them, Meadowbrook Peds. Good luck
My best friend and I were both pregnant at the same time. She gave birth at Abington and I at Holy Redeemer. I LOVED my experience at Holy Redeemer. My best friend did as well at Abington.
I had a private room and I loved the staff. My OBGYN is also affiliated with Holy Redeemer so I didn't really havea choice. If you are from the area then you might have heard of Joel Kramer. He is well known in the Huntingdon Valley Area. He is a friend our family and is a wonderful OBGYN. His partners are Devlin and Natuso and I also had very positive experiences with them. I felt very comfortable with everyone at Joel's offices and even though i was in labor for over 10 hours with a final C section it was a wonderful experience. Holy Redeemer is the best!
