I am 8 weeks pregnant and have horrible headaches. I do not want to take Advil or anything similar. Do you have any thing that you could make them go away.

What can I do next?

with BOTH my pregnancies, I had MEGA morning sickness and MIGRAINES all day.

The only thing that helped me was Acupuncture. Which was recommended to me by my OB/GYN.
Just one half hour session, was all it took. And it was gone.
It does not hurt and is actually very relaxing.
Go to an Acupuncturist that handles pregnant women.
It is safe.
I highly recommend it.

all the best,
Susan

make sure you drink a lot and eat frequently. hold a cold can of coke on the side of your head or base of neck. i used that during my entire pregnancy and it really helped.

Tylenol is safe during pregnancy, but Advil/Motrin/Ibuprofin is NOT. Aleve and asprin are also not safe during pregnancy.
Other than resting, the only thing that will really help your headaches is Tylenol.
Good luck!

Pain medication is nice but won't always make a headache go away anyway - it will just come back once the drugs wear off. If it's a migraine (pounding/pulsing sort of pain on one side of your head, basically), this should help:
- Drink LOTS of water. Nothing with sugar.
- Have a little caffeine - one cup of coffee, something like that. Too much will actually make it worse.
- Ice pack on the back of your head, really low where it joins your neck.

This works because the migraines are caused by expanded blood vessels, and all these things help shrink them back down to "normal" size. Also (and this is a tall order) de-stressing works wonders. Make sure your shoulders are back and you're not hunching or crunching your shoulders.

This sounds weird, but for me, eating an apple helps. Not sure why, but a big juicy apple is one of the best things for my migraines.

Oh and see a chiropractor! Mine worked wonders for my migraines (pre-pregnancy, but it's still safe during pregnancy, they just modify the treatment a little).

I've read that terrible headaches during pregnancy should be reported to one's doctor.

Go see a doctor.
I had a brain aneurysm when I was 4 months pregnant. Not to scare you or anything but apparently it happens to 1 in 1000 pregnant women.
Just go see a doctor and ask for an MRI.
Like I said....I'm sure in your case it's nothing and they'll probably tell you you are okay to take Tylenol but GO see your doctor please! Just to be safe and rule out anything more serious!!!

Could you be dehydrated? I had horrible headaches during pregnancy because of that. You are supposed to drink 100 ounces of water a day. I couldnt' seem to get enough in and resorted to Gatorade (not the ones with aspartame) to get hydrated. Acupuncture can also help if you are hydrated.

Tylenol & Dr. Pepper and a cold wash cloth where it hurts.

If nothing helps and you are having trouble functioning talk to your doc. There are prescriptions you can take for migraines even when pregnant.

Acupuncture would be awesome to try. But, as I always suggest, go see a chiropractor! ;) You are probably out of adjustment and you have some pressure on your nerves. I received adjustments up until the day before I went into labor with my second and believe me, I wish I would have done it with my first. I slept better, no swelling in my ankles, and my labor went so much easier/quicker. Most insurance plans cover it, too!
Also, make sure you are eating well (3 meals, and snack in between, drinking more water) because I always found that I would get a headache, nauseous, or light-headed if I had an empty stomach.
Good luck.

I have terrible headaches often....when I am pregnant and when I am not. When I am pregnant/nursing, I try tylenol. It is safe during pregnancy and when nursing. You can also try motrin after pregnancy, when nursing. Sometimes that doesn't do the trick though. Then I try having a can of coke. The caffiene really does help! I don't drink much caffiene anyway - oftentimes I have no caffiene for multiple days, so it's not like a coke will send me over the "recommended" amount during pregnancy. One can of coke is much lower than the amount deemed "safe." FYI - I also haven't seen any side effects in my infant son who is nursing.

Otherwise talk to your midwife/OB for other suggestions.

Well, I took tylenol and did ice packs/quiet time when I had headaches.. so maybe try an ice pack on the back of your head/neck?
