Oh my gosh, that was EXACTLY the problem that I had when I was pregnant. I moved to AZ during my 4th month of pregnancy and applied for state health insurance. While I was waiting to hear back, I didn't go to the doctor (which really sucked because I was pregnant with twins, and as a high-risk pregnancy, I should have been going in every three weeks). After two-and-a-half months of waiting, I was finally approved. When I finally got in see a doctor, the girl at the front desk told me that if you have applied for AHCCCS health insurance, then you should still be able to go to the doctor, even though they haven't approved you yet. What will happen is that when you are approved, your coverage will go back starting the day you applied. So you should start calling around NOW to doctors, and just ask them if they take AHCCCS. If they do, then make an appointment. Let them know that you are waiting for insurance approval, but you are 6 months along and need to be seen asap. They will be able to treat you, and then they will send you a bill for services. Hang on to that bill, but don't pay it. Then when your insurance does come through, send them a copy and it will be covered for you. Good luck and I hope that everything works out for you.

P.S. I would definitely call or go down to the office where you applied for insurance and see what happened to your application, because by law you should have heard back no later than 20 working days from the day you applied.

Did you apply for AHCCCS Health Insurance through the state? If so, you should have heard back long before now...especially since you are pregnant. We recently applied and the agent working with us told us that by law they have to give you a decision in 20 days if you are pregnant. Go to their website and check it out. You can print the application on there and everything. They are usually very quick about it if you are expecting. Good luck and congratulations.
