Good grief! Now 5th grade graduation. In my opinion, there are two graduations, high school and college. Anything else is just a stepping stone to those achievements.

I see nothing wrong in celebrating the end of the school year, we did every year with dinner out but gift for 5th grade graduation? No!

Absolutely nothing! I had one daughter graduate from fifth grade, the other from college this year. Guess who got a gift.

Yup the one who actually graduated from something that is considered an achievement.

I did not know there were 5th grade graduations. 8th grade yes, high school yes not 5th grade. Not sure I would do anything because it just does
not seem like a milestone. Maybe have lunch out but that would be most I
would do.

Now a graduation gift for 5th grade? My poor kids. I will wait for the monumental achievements. My oldest just graduated college. She is getting a trip. Wish I could get away with a dinner, lol. Start saving now.

Nothing. Nor is my 8th grader getting much. She, 8th grader, will get her ears pierced but he, 5th grader, will just move to 6th grade.
My high school senior is getting a huge party.

I believe that kids should have a party for HS graduation and College graduation. Fifth grade, too me, is like a stepping up.

Maybe lunch, a card and a very small gift.

Nothing. The school always has a really nice school wide assembly for the fifth graders, not a graduation, and parents aren't even invited (though there is always a small group that insists on showing up anyway, lol!) It's a special time for the staff and kids to remember and celebrate the big kids moving on :)

Our school is K-6. They have a 6th grade awards ceremony two days before the end of school, but it isn't called graduation. There is no diploma for finishing elementary school.

At the end of the school year I usually get my daughter some mini roses and a card, and take her out to lunch where ever she wants to go. She's not graduating or anything, but it's fun to recognize the end of the school year and my daughter does well in school so she deserves a little something. You could give your son a bunch a balloons if he wouldn't appreciate a lovely flower bouquet :)

Our district starts middle school at 5th. So I'm thinking we might acknowledge the beginning of middle school with a dinner out or something.

Mine is going camping. It lines up with Father's Day weekend, so all the guys (3 generations) are all going for the weekend.

5th grade? Is your jr high 6th, 7th and 8th? My 6th grader is having a "promotion" at school. We are getting her a card and a bouquet of flowers. Maybe some cash? I haven't really thought about it yet. Good luck!

Considering in our district a 5th grade graduation is signifying a pretty big change to middle school we'll most likely take our children out to eat somewhere they enjoy and depending on grades give a bonus gift as well. My husband and I always want to show acknowledgement to our children for making accomplishments no matter how 'minor' because often we were not acknowledged for ours, even large ones, growing up.

We are taking our daughter out to lunch after the graduation ceremony. That's about it. She wanted to have a party at the small water park in our city, and even offered to pay for it with her own money so I agreed to that. Although, we invited a couple of extra girls thinking there would be a few who couldn't make it, but when everyone said yes we told her we would pay for the extra girls. LOL.
