Hi all,

My husband will be turning 40 this year, and I want to make it special for him. I would love to something grand/sentimental/fun for him. I always remember that when my mom turned 40, my dad hired a band to come and stand in front our our house really early that morning and they played 'the old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be'. It was hilarious and unforgettable. I'm looking for off the wall, unbelievable ideas like that. Also looking for some sentimental ways to look back at his life so far.

I'm not really tech savvy, but could manage some minor technical things. Luckily, I've been saving for this, so I do have a decent budget to work with, plus I have a little longer to save- it's not until summer.

Thanks in advance for your ideas!!

What can I do next?

My DH always wanted to fly so for his 30th I gave him a ride in T-34 trainer. They're based out of Centennial Airport. http://www.incredible-adventures.com/colorado-sky-fighter... He *still* talks about it 8 years later.

Is there something he's always wanted to do? A safari? There are great deals on Travel Zoo right now, $1000 PP with airfare to go to India for a week, $999 for Vietnam. A huge surprise party?

Key into his interest and it will give you a better idea, or ask your dad, he has some great ideas!

My answer is similar to the first post (and is "borrowed" from another friend). We don't live near many of our friends, so I am going to contact as many people as I can via Facebook and email asking them to send in cards for my hubby's 40th next month. We rarely get cards any more, so I thought this would be a nice way to let everyone join in the celebration without a big to-do. Also, I am going to try to sneak a sign on the back of his truck that says "HONK! I'm 40 today!." A neighbor put up such a sign on their corner lot and it was tons of fun.

Something I just did for my husband's 30th, is had friends from now and in our past write down memories or things they loved about my husband. My husband really seemed to appreciate it. I just put all the letters or emails together in a book for him.

my husband will be 40 next year and one of the things i am going to do is make a dress from one of his favorite books and wear it when i take him to dinner at our favorite upper class restaurant. something like that is always good because its a way to be sexy just for him and make him anticipate the rest of the evening. have fun will it its always the little details that they remember most and appreciate the most. best of luck to you!
