3 Month Old Napping in Bouncy

How can I get my 3 month old to nap in her crib? She sleeps great at night in her crib. I've tried to take her out of the bouncy once she's really sleeping, rocking her and putting her in the crib, letting her cry a little, giving her the binky over and over again, but she always woke up. The binky game worked the best, but she wasn't ever in a deep sleep and we played that game for an hour. After she had her next feeding, she slept for 90 minutes in the bouncy.

What can I do next?

As long as you are watching her and the bouncy is on the floor, I see no reason why she needs to nap in her crib. If the bouncy is where she sleeps best, go with it. The ambient light and noise of the house will also make it easier for her to nap when she gets older and a completely quiet house is impossible.

As long as she sleeps, stick with what works.

There may be several reasons she sleeps better in the bouncy...

As one person suggested, they like the "tight" feel of the bouncy, where it surrounds them more. Have you tried to get her in a good, tight swaddle? That can be amazing to help some kids sleep! My daughter has had some sleep issues with her youngest, but her hubby (he usually works out of town 5 days a week) can manage to get her in a good tight swaddle.... she slept ALL night for the last two nights this way! (She is 8 weeks old now....) His company has the crews working local for a while, now, so he is home every night.

Also, she may sleep better in a slightly upright position... some babies, especially those with reflux, sleep much better if they are a bit more upright.

Wonder if she feels held in the bouncy. Maybe you could try swaddling her in a blanket that will fit her size. Roll up recieving blankets and place behind her and infront of her. She may like the sense of being comferted.

Hope is she gets good naps. :)

Swaddling always worked for my son when he was that age. It didn't matter if I had put him in his crib with a blanket on him, he really liked being swaddled. Also if she is sleeping in the bouncy don't move her. I've done that before when my son would be asleep in his car seat I would move him and that was it he was crying his head off. As long as she is safe she'll be fine.

I'm not opposed to her sleeping in the bouncy.....

as long as you make sure her head/neck is not compressed & cutting off her air supply. This is a serious issue, & I have seen babies struggling for breath by sleeping in something other than in their beds/pack N plays & in the "back to sleep" position.

Try the swaddle. & don't move her once she's asleep....you are waking her!

The best place for baby to sleep is wherever baby will sleep.

Don't worry about it. One day she may decide on her own that she no longer wants to sleep there. When she gets a little bigger and/or begins to roll over, you might decide that she needs to sleep somewhere else for safety reasons. Until then, stick with what works.

It ain't broke, so don't fix it.

My 3rd baby had bad reflux and could only sleep in her bouncy seat for several months to keep her head elevated. I do not recommend it just for comfort. It did start to affect the shape of her head and I had a harder time keeping the wearing off of her hair (like from rubbing her head in the same spot) from getting to be too much in one area. Plus, her head did flop forward too much at times. It was a scary time for me but we made it through. Anyway, when her reflux was under control, in order to transition her to her crib, we elevated one end of the crib slightly and created like a border of rolled up towels in the crib so that she would feel surrounded. She only liked to be swaddled loosely.

My first kid did sleep in a bouncer and a swing for 6 months. She had gas and was conftable in those. She never likes her crib! At 11 months she has her toddler bed!

Good luck

start by having the bouncy IN the crib for naps, then she'll be used to the space and it will be easier to transition her. Next if you have the vibrator on eliminate that then the ultimate transition will be much easier as the space and lack of vibration will be the same.

If you aren't swaddling her when you put her in the bed that may be the key to a good nap.

What's more important having your baby get sleep to grown and be nourished and healthy or sleep where u want them? Let the baby sleep where he or she is comfortable and what works for the baby for now. It is critical growing time and when they sleep they grow renew strength muscles in the eyes, neck, etc. important parts so they do not have problems later! Enjoy the time!

My daughter was the same way but it was the swing not the bouncy. She napped in the swing until 5 months when she realized she couldn't roll over to sleep like she could in her crib. Once she was big enough to move around, she started napping in the crib. But she always slept at night in her crib. It will come with time. Don't worry about it. My twins napped in their bouncy until 7 months.
