I need some advice and suggestions for my sister! Her first born is pulling out her hair! It started when her hair became long enough to put in a barrette, she would pull the barrette out of her hair so my sister stopped putting her hair up thinking she would stop pulling at it but NO she keeps pulling hairs out of the top of her head and is getting a bald spot! My sister is really concerned and has taken her to the doctor to see how to help her to stop doing this but nothing has worked. Has anyone been through this situation with their babies? Please help me with advice on ways to stop this if any...my sister thinks her baby girl might be stressed but I told her she couldn't be, her little life has been good! This is my sisters 1st child and she has done everything by the book..she's worried!

What can I do next?

N., that would be very scarry for any parent. I have found some really good advice on www.babysource.com or also try webmd.com...You could always go to see the pediatrician. You try and keep your sister ok, till it is figured out. This is your chance to be strong. You can do it!!! Good Luck!!!

All I know is years ago my girlfriend had her child tore out t her hair. We are hairdressers or were, and she could not stop her too. I remember us taking a picture of her in the salon with a wig we put on her. She did not have a lot of hair anyway. I do know that when children or adults have a ton of hair and get headaches it can be the cause of to much hair. I used to wear a ton of hair pieces back in the 60's until my neck and head were so heavy it affected me so I quit. This too shall pass. Also I had a customer that every time I cut her hair the difference of the weight hurt her head. She would take aspirin before she came. G. W

One of our twins did this when she got angry. She's also hit herself, it was the weirdest thing, but we didn't know what was going on. For us, we just held her hands down and soothed her. And yes, she can be stressed but at that age they are in between knowing what they want and not having their words, so it's a frustrating age.

Try having her adjusted by the chiropractor. She could be itching and yes, she could be stressed. I don't know, but it is worth a try.
