I don't know if I should be as worried as I am. About a week ago my 15 month old just stopped eating. She did end up running a fever for a few days. Took her to the Dr. but they couldn't find anything wrong. Did blood, urine, etc. She has always been hard to get to eat but she had gotten to were she liked breakfast and always ate snacks wether sick or not and usually would eat veggies if not meat at meals. Liked all bread and crackers. Since this started I can't even get snacks in her. Normally she would eat those yummy snack foods even if not hungry. She is not big on drinking her milk but since I still giver her an evening bottle she is getting 12 to 16 oz. Any advice? It's been a few days of no fever and she is playing normally.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the responses. She still is not wanting to eat. No teeth seem to be coming and everything checks out at Dr. I did realize that if she is totally distracted she will let me feed her. We were in a loud restaurant and she actually ate. The only thing I seem to be able to do at home is turn TV on but then that gives me new problems. First, she won't feed herself she just stares at TV but will let me feed her. Second, I hate to start that habit. Hopefully, she will eventually eat.

try offering as much fluids as you can get into her, after you have tried food. As long as she is not acting off or really tired i wouldnt worry. If the eating doesnt pick up in a few more days call her doctor back, but if she is acting like normal give it a little longer...just keep trying the food and really push the liquid. Good luck

She could still be feeling a little off colour and her appetite just hasn't come back to normal yet , all you can do is keep offering her food and she will eat when she feels like it. My 22 month old had a 48hr diarrhea bug 2 weeks ago and is still not back to eating normal yet , she also came out in a rash this past weekend and has slapped cheek , I offer her meals and snacks , sometimes she will eat and sometimes not , for example today she didn't eat breakfast , picked a little at lunch and has eaten a few Ritz crackers as a snack , I have a feeling that she won't eat much dinner either.

My grandson got an unidentified virus this winter, had some fever, lost his appetite, and for a couple of worrisome weeks ate almost nothing. He lost weight visibly, but his pediatrician said to wait it out, and just keep giving him fluids.

A couple of week later his appetite came back better than ever. Your daughter could be fine in a few days. If her mood and energy suddenly change, take her back to the doctor.

She is probably just slowing down. Most of our growth is during our first year of life and we eat like there is no tomorrow. We no longer need to do that after about one year.

Her growth has slowed so she no longer needs all those calories. As my Dr. told me, at this age, you are lucky to get one good meal in them a day. When she is hungry, she will eat. Relax and do not stress as she will feel your stress.

maybe she's teething? I have a 14 month old and she started doing the same thing and Isaw in her mouth and her gums are completely swollen. the molars are way more painful and irritating. sometimes teething causes low grade fever. look up toddlers teething and molars. just a thought...

Is she teething? I know a 15 month old that is doing the same thing and she is teething. Try something like baby food... its soft and easy to get her to swallow. I talked to my boss about the same milk situation you are having bc my 20 month old decided she no longer wanted milk... My boss said its bc of the heaviness of the milk. The kids want something that wont make them sick in this heat and that their bodies know whats good for them. Keep giving her as many fluids as possible and call the pedi tomorow and ask him what could be wrong. She also might have fluid or an ear infection that can cause them not to want to chew bc it hurts their ears. I understand your worry bc I have 2 of my own and just went through a bunch of sickness, ear infections and teething (still teething). I can also say that a kid will eat when he/she is hungry and they wont eat when they are not hungry. Keep offering her foods, keep her hydrated and make sure you call and ask your pedi what it could be! Good luck... :)

She is more than likely teething. My 20 month old did the same exact thing at that age and it was due to teeth coming in.
