Hey moms! Well here's whats happening. my son about 2 weeks ago got a slight fever (100.1). So we started Tylenol and gave him a lukewarm bath, the fever broke the next morning. Now again he has a slight fever(99.9) but i feel its starting to break again. Has anyone else had a similar experience? He doesn't seem to be affected by it. He's still playing and laughing and dancing around the house. His eating has dropped a small bit but nothing drastic. Thanks for any advice. God Bless

Fevers are no fun. It sounds like he may have picked up another virus. 99.9 is a lower grade fever usually associated with a virus. My son had pneumonia, H-flu(conjuctivitus) and a respritory type virus all within about 6 weeks and each one included a fever. We have been illness free for about 1 month now ...YOOHOO!! I would take him in and have his ears, nose, throat and lungs checked just to feel more at ease. I took my son in with each illness...we have a great Dr.
Take care

I agree with SH, it could just be teething. However, if you feel like it could be something more, then its always best to check with a doctor! Your instinct is your best tool as a mom. Oh, and I also agree with SH about not giving any medication for a slight fever - it is actually best to let the body learn to fight it itself, or else it will become too dependent of drugs. A luke warm bath is great though :)

Take him to the Doctor.
A recurring fever is indicating something.
Or is it possible he's teething?
But best to check with a Doctor for sure, since it's been happening since 2 weeks ago. It could or could not be related... or just coincidental, or a relapse of something.

For me, when my kids have a fever & in light of their age, I do not give Tylenol or Motrin, unless it is very high or they are in pain. The reason being, I let the fever "break" naturally and I keep an eye on them all night, checking their temp every hour and their physical symptoms.

Tylenol only brings down the fever, NOT "cure" the illness. So if his fever is recurring, best to confirm medically what it is.

Take care,
Susan

My little one just had similar temps and I took her in to find that she had 2 ear infections and the glands were infected.

There is usually some reason for a fever.

I agree not giving anything for fever unless it is high enough to be causing them a lot of discomfort fever is the best defense to fight an infection. How do you even know his fever is that low if he is playing and acting normal. Don't stress yourself out walking around taking his temp all the time everyone has a small window of normal temp it is not always 98.7 it could be the weather is warm he is playing hard or like others have said teething. If he otherwise seems fine then let his body do what it was made to do heal it self. (another thing could be did he recently have any shots) Good luck and just keep an eye on him but don't over worry.
