Stain Removal Woes

I am having a huge problem trying to get stains out of my kids clothing. For a few years I have sworn by the Dawn dish soap and Oxyclean paste on a stain and that worked wonders! Now it seems that it doesn't work at all! I use Melaluca laundry soap and I tried using their stain removal product but I am so disappointed with it I am going to send it back! I have also tried Sol-u-Mel with the same results. Does anyone have a tried and true remedy that gets out dirt, spaghetti sauce, berry stains and all those other hard to dissolve stains...

The Wonders of Baking Soda!

I am amazed at how well Baking Soda cleans! A couple weeks ago I tried a paste of water and baking soda in my oven and let it set for a couple hours. When I came back I used a little elbow grease and it was shiny and clean without all those nasty fumes. I just now tried it on my glass top stove (I researched to make sure it wasn't going to damage it first). This time I read to use a paste of baking soda and lemon juice. It worked far better than the nasty smelling cleaner that I purchased specially to clean glass stovetops and my stove...

Any Advice on How to Cut Back on Soda?

I love soda. Been drinking it since i was 8.im 36 now.I want to quit drinking it or at least drink one can a day.I'm up to a 6 pack a day now. I tried to quit cold turkey a year ago. I went 8 days (drinking flavored water) then I felt so nauseous, I was over the toilet feeling like I was going to throw up. That day I started drinking again. I love the carbonated part of the soda. I also like that it fills me up when im hungry, id rather have soda than food. I do get the headaches if I don't have the caffeine within a 5 hour time slot. I...

OxyClean And HE Washer...

Got a new front load HE washer and dryer a few weeks ago, YEAH! Do any of you use OxyClean with yours? The instructions for the washer say to sprinkle it in the actual washer drum before adding clothes and I just wonder if it all comes back out of the little holes when the clothes start to wash? Seems like I am thinking about this too hard, getting a laugh at myself while writing this! But really, when you sprinkle it in the drum, it falls into the holes. I really like to use OxyClean for odor (stinky gym clothes), stains (2-year old!)...

Vinegar as a Cleaner

Does anyone know just how well vinegar gets things SANITARY? I really want to try making my own cleaners and have found numerous sources that explain how to use vinegar and water as a cleaner. The sources all say you can use it to clean surfaces, counters, etc. But none of them are clear as to what kind of "dirtiness" this can clean. For example, can I clean the KITCHEN counter with it? WIll it sanitize the counter after cutting raw chicken or is it just for quick wipe ups after making pb&j? Can I clean the outside of the toilet with...
