Advice of Buying a Breast Pump

Where can I get a good breast pump without paying an arm and a leg. I like the Ameda and Medela but both of very expensive. In the long run it will be cheaper to buy instead of rent if I nurse for any length of time but I at a lost as to where would be the cheapest place. Any ideas??? I really appreciate all of your advice but I am a little confused. I have a friend that will loan me her Medela Pump in Style, but I researched online about used pumps and everything that I found warned against it even it you change the tubes because...

Get over It??

I'm considering renting a breast pump instead of buying one. However, I have to admit I'm not completely comfortable with the idea of using a pump that has been used by others - of course I'm aware they are sanitized. My thoughts against outright buying are that I'm not planning on having any more children, renting may be cheaper depending on how my milk production fairs this time around, etc. Any insight on renting vs buying a pump? I breastfed my first one for 10 months and used a hand-held pump, but production slowed in the middle of...

What Do You Really Need for an Infant?

So it's been 8 years since I last had a baby to care for. I am expecting again and am at a loss for what I really need and trying to prioritize. I have looked at many registries and think they include a lot of frivolous items (wipe warmers ect) So if you could go back in time and know then what you know now, what are your must have items. When I say I have nothing I mean not one baby item at all. I know I'll need a crib, clothes, ect. I also plan on breastfeeding, so I will need a pump for when I return to work and there are so many to...

Breastfeeding and Solids

I have been so confused on how to combine breastmilk and solids. I have a 9 mo old son. I work full time so have to have my son take breastmilk from a bottle during the day which makes me question how much he should be drinking from a bottle when introducing solids into the mix. I nurse him 1st thing in the morning, then pump 3 times at work producing only about 4 oz per pump, then I nurse him right before bedtime. He will have breakfast, lunch & dinner now of solids. Do i have him drink milk prior to each meal or after or how should...

I Want My Boobs Back

I have been nursing my son for 4 months. When I decided to breastfeed I committed to six months, but now I feel like he is attached to me all the time and I have to pump at work which is a little uncomfortable. I am considering weaning him, but I am afraid that I will want to go back once we start the process. Has anyone else had these conflicting feelings? How did you deal with it? What did you ultimately decide?
