When Did Your Kids Stop Snuggling with You?

I was talking to one of my friends the other day, and I was talking about how my 11 year old boy and I was watching and movie last night and how it was great that he'll still do that with and cuddle up sometimes. And she said none of her kids will do that anymore, and she has a boy my sons age. And I was jsut curious when kids stop (hopefully
never!!) all my boys will still snuggle with me, my 15 year old daughter, not so much, but at that age, shes not that into mom, if you know what I mean and she was never a big cuddler has a kid. And when my 20 year old daughter comes home, and were talking, she will snuggle up with me and have a heart to heart. So I was just curious, when did your kids stop?

What can I do next?

My son has never been a snuggler since birth. He was a very happy baby, but always preferred to be independent. He didn't like being held much as an infant, and definitely not now as a toddler. I stopped any kind of snuggling with my dad (never snuggled with my mom) I'd say around 10. My husband said he doesn't ever remember liking snuggling as a child.

My 2 older daughters who are 21 and almost 19 both still ciddle with me when they are home from college. The almost 19 year old the most, but she has always been a real "cuddler" LOL! My younger 2 who are 9 and almost 11, are still quite cuddly, but out of the 2 of them, the 9 yr old is far less cuddly, since she likes to be on the move or doing things. She rarely sits and watches TV or movies, and will only sit and cuddle with me if she is sick or if we are talking about something. BTW, the almost 11 yr old is a boy. He has Asperger's too, so the fact that he cuddles AT ALL is a huge accomplishment! I will take it from him for as long as I can get it! :)

My 11 yo still ends up in our bed at night on occasion. Sometimes our 14 yo is in there too. My 17 yo not so much, but she never was a touchy feely kind of kid. My 23 yo came home and doesn't so much snuggle but is always hugging me when I'm tryign to make dinner or work on the computer.

I snuggled with my Grandma until we moved away, she was 93.

When my 17 yr old daughter needs mom, is sick ( especially the bad cramps) or just support... She'll cuddle in the bed with me.

Sometimes when hubby is out of town we shut everything down, turn on a movie and my bed is full with her, me, and the 3 dogs.

We're heading to South Beach together for the end of the year trip for mom/daughter! Can't wait!

My 8 1/2 year old girls just left me side. She has been in here all evening snuggling while we played Gardens of Time on FB.

My 5 yr. old grandson will lay by me on the bed and watch some TV but as for just sitting with me to snuggle...he really doesn't do that too much unless he is feeling bad.

My friend has a son who still likes to snuggle, he is nearly 12. She was turned into the state last year by some parents who saw it at an activity and said it was highly inappropriate for a young man that age to be acting like that around his mom. They insinuated they were having a sexual relationship. The state dismissed the referral but the boy and mom both have to do counseling once a week for a year.

The hubby actually won full custody by bringing it up in court how he felt it was inappropriate for his son to still be doing that. She has suffered and cried over this.

So I do believe that society will notice if it is past the point that they feel it is acceptable.

It's cute when a little one does it but a young man? I don't know when the cut off point would be for sure though.

my kiddo is 5 and we still snuggle. My mom was never a snuggler (once you were weaned she basically wanted nothing to do with you) so I really value the snuggling with my daughter. It doesn't really answer your question, but I hope the snuggling lasts for awhile longer, for sure, and hearing that your kids still snuggle makes me hopeful and happy.

I think it has to do a lot with personality and feelings towards the parents as the child ages. I can't actually remember enjoying snuggling with my parents although I remember getting head massages. My son loves to snuggle and I hope it never ends.

Well, my hubby is out of town this week and my 12 yr old daughter wants to sleep in my bed one night while her daddy it away. I love snuggling and cuddling with my kiddos. I hope they never outgrow it. I told her she might not enjoy sleeping with me because her youngest sister just turned 1 (I have 4 children) and I pull her into my bed to nurse during the night. 12 year old daughter says it will be fun. I told her I'll think about it...

My stepson just turned 30 today, and his snuggling has just changed into long hugs and backrubs when he feels stressed. I'm glad he is still that comfortable being close to me. I've known him since he was two and became his stepmom at four.

My kids are almost 9, 7, and 5...they are all my cuddlebugs. I love it and hope they NEVER stop.

We were at a dance competition this weekend and my daughter (almost 9) was the only one who wanted to hold my hand walking down the hallway...warmed my heart!
