I just could never see my self driving a suburban (Yukon XL same just more expensive) for 20yrs kept telling my husband I will never drive one blah blah.. well I agree more room is always better when hauling stuff.. so I went with the Yukon XL I like it more then I thought.. thx for all the responds..

We have an Armada and a Yukon XL Denali. I prefer to drive the Armada, but also love the Denali. It's got so much room in it, but is so easy to drive. As much as I love the Aramada, it is a pain to have to put the seats down when I go grocery shopping or anything like that. So I would have gotten an XL Armada is they made it :).

I'm an insurance agent and always tell people to get a quote (get the VIN's) thru their agent on each vehicle before they decide, it may be a huge difference and if so, that may be your deciding factor! Congrats on the new car and good luck!!!

An Acadia is significantly smaller than a Yukon. A Yukon is a full size SUV, and an Acadia is a crossover. That being said, I have a Yukon and I wish that I had the XL. When we got my SUV, I was going from a smaller one (Pilot) to the Yukon, which is much larger. I was very nervous to go as large as an XL, so that is the main reason we went with the smaller one...as a side note, I don't remember the gas mileage making enough of a difference to even factor in to the decision. For day to day use, the extra cargo room isn't that big of a deal. The only time that I really wish we had the XL is when I grocery shop and on road trips. We have four kids, so the third row is always up, which leaves very little room for suitcases, sports stuff, etc. I would definitely go with the XL- that is what we will be getting next. BTW, I LOVE my Yukon- I'm sure you will too!

I have a tahoe the Yukons cheaper sister ...and now that i have two kids I wish I had the Suburban for that extra space. If I have my 3rd row of seats in, I cant have groceries & the stroller. If I had a Suburban I would have room for both with the 3rd row of seats in. Hope that helps

I have a Yukon XL and love it. It has plenty of room for any occasion or need. The only complaint I have about the Yukon's is that the are very roomy and to talk/hear the kids in the 3rd row seating can be like yelling. I am actually looking into buying a new vehicle and checking out the crossovers but it is a hard choice since I am so used to all the room by Yukon offers. Best of luck to you in your choice.

I'd say it depends on what you want to do with it and how big your family is.

Remember, an XL will be heavier which means not as good gas mileage and if it's not 4wd, you'll have a little less control [because of the length/weight].

If you're pulling a trailer... Get an XL. If you have a family larger than 5... Get an XL.

If not, a standard Yukon is fine.

I have a Suburban. A mom with kids with friends and all their stuff, including strollers (when I needed them) is the only way to go. If you have the option, I'd go with the bigger one. It seems like the 3rd row has more room in the Suburban than the Tahoe as well. Also, I have one with captain's chairs and my sister's old Suburban had the bench row. I love my captain's chairs and the ease of getting in and out for the 3rd row peeps, but there are more times that I wish I had that 8th seat! It always seems like I'm just one short! Good luck and happy driving!

I have an XL. Love it. Have room for family of 5 and two dogs...plus luggage. I'm not sure what the gas mileage on the Yukon averages, but we get between 19-20 mpg on the highway. Great for a big car.

I have the GMC Acadia, which I'm told is the same size as the Yukon. I think it has plenty of room for our family that will be a family of 5 in March. We got the captains chairs in the second row instead of a bench seat and love the easy access to the back row for my daughter. The trunk space is quite small, but there is plenty of room on the floor in the cabin area to keep stuff. I've only had the Acadia for a couple of weeks, but I do still have difficulty parking it since I'm not use to the larger size. I was parked next to a Yukon XL today, and just the size difference alone, I don't think I would feel comfortable driving something that large. MzKitty is right, check with your agent about insurance first.

Are you set on a yukon? I had a tahoe and liked it, but switched to an expedition because the third row folds down automatically. The yukon and tahoe's third row seats are so heavy and bulky. It is really nice to be able to fold the seats down when I don't need them for the extra space. Also, with my tahoe, I couldn't fit anything in the back when the third row was up. However, in my expedition, there's enough room for groceries, even my double stroller. i really love my expedition. Good luck on your search!
