Hi Mommas,
One of my friends is expecting a baby soon, and I am looking for somewhere different, or unique to host a baby shower for her. I want it to be special, and I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for a specific place. It could be a private room in a restaurant, or something like that. Not looking to spend alot of money, but be willing to spend a little bit if the location was nice. We are preferably looking for a place in McKinney/Allen/Plano area. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

What can I do next?

If you're looking for a place in Plano, Patti's Place is super cute. It's in a beautiful historic home, and great menu (they'll work with you). http://www.pattisplacetearoom.com/ It's on Coit Rd, just south of Spring Creek Pkwy.

You might try the Chocolate Angel in Richardson. It is a darling place with great food. I love the decor- a tea room
atmosphere. I have also been to the Lavendar House in McKinney. I though it was a little pricey and our service was not that great that day. I love Alice's Tea Room in Downtown McKinney also. Patti's is nice but I am not sure how you do the ordering. When we went we had to order at a counter. I think my top two are Alice's and the Chocolate Angel location in Richardson.

There is a very unique tea room in downtown McKinney, on the square, called the Lavendar Room. We go there for girls weekends. Someone was having a sweet sixteen party when we were there...looked like they were having fun!!

Hi S.!

I have a GREAT baby shower idea for you...I just opened a "paint party" studio in downtown McKinney...something unique and a blast with a group! We can accomodate up to 30 people, all supplies included. You can decorate, bring a cake or other food and drinks. I have wonderful artists who can sketch something out for each person to paint and she could decorate the nursery with all the paintings from her family/friends! Perhaps she has a theme or we could come up with something. We could do something during the day or evening and could put something together to fit your budget. Check us out at www.sippitydoodle.com and let me know if we can help in any way! Thanks, H.

Alice's Tea Shoppe, just off the square in McKinney. I, personally, think that the food is better and more affordable than the Lavendar Tea Room (not that Lavendar is bad, I just like Alice's better). The restaurant is an Alice in Wonderland theme, so you could extend that for your shower theme and do some really fun stuff. GL!

There is a terrific tea room in downtown Plano called Into my Garden. It is in the back of a store called Nooks and Crannies. Very cute place with awesome food. I did a baby shower there and everybody loved it. Per person it was around ten bucks per person for lunch and dessert. I haven't been there in a while, but they have always had the front of the store set up like a hospital nursery with baby dolls.

I had a shower in one of the historical buildings in Wylie. I loved the cozy feeling of the house but it was still big enough for plenty of people.

I bet you could find something simular in McKinney. I don't know if anything specific, but one of the B & B's may do it or direct you where to go.

Also, Mama Emila's in downtown McKinney has a cool private area (upstairs) for private parties. They have great food with a good variety. They also have a great buffet on Sunday mornings.

Hi S.,

We host many Baby Showers here at our shop. We work within your budget, as well as provide a cakes (which are made by scratch). We provide a special tea menu or lunch menu. Additionally, we have two dining rooms, therefore, we can provide you with a private room. Our shoppe is decorated in an English Style, with a touch of Alice in Wonderland.

Thank you Meg for the referral.

Patrizio's in Plano! It was nice, private, they set a menu for you (you choose a few things from the menu) and it wasn't at my house! So no cleaning necessary!

Hi S.,

I say (hands down) The Chocolate Angel in Richardson or Tart Bakery and Pastry Studio in Plano at the Shops at Legacy (www.tartbakerydallas.com).

They both have great rooms that are so fun and perfect for showers!
