Pregnant and Sick? - Rowlett,TX

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and had severe morning sickness the 1st 14 weeks, but for the past month have felt great (and it's showing!). But then all this week I've had headaches and tummy issues...the symptoms are really hard to describe....it's like an uneasy feeling in my stomach all day long whether I eat or not. I've thrown up once or twice but no diarreah. And I get these sharp pains every one in a while. I just wasn't sure if this was pregnancy related or a virus I picked up from my kiddos. Does anyone have a similar experience? I go for my monthly check-up Thursday, but just wanted to get a peace of mind......and hopefully get to feeling better again!

What can I do next?

I agree that it could be a bug that's making you feel sick. Also, the sharp pains could be gas or constipation. Make sure you're getting enough fiber in your diet and drinking plenty of water (should help the headaches, too!). I'm expecting number 2 in 9 weeks and had a harder time with "evening" sickness this time.

I also agree that if you're really worried about your symptoms, it never hurts to call your care provider and discuss it with them. They can decide whether you need further evaluation or put your mind at ease and give pointers for common pregnancy discomforts (I understand them being more "uncomfortable" with subsequent pregnancies and therefore more worrisome).

Hang in there, and I hope you're feeling better soon! God bless you.

p.s. Try ginger ale or diet 7-up to settle your stomach. I hated ginger ale with my first, but loved it with my second. Also, try your water or decaf tea with LOTS of fresh lemon. It's refreshing and soothing to me.

Another possibility is acid reflux. I had no morning sickness, but during my second trimester had these awful stomach pains. I never would have guessed that what I was experiencing was acid reflux...but my doctor was sure it was and gave me an antacid and I was good as new. Good luck!

Hey H.,
It sounds to me like you picked up a little bug. I am too due in June with my 3rd baby and my whole family is getting over some flu like symtoms. The sharp pains could be gas, but if it got severe or kept hurting I would go ahead and call the dr. I hope everything is okay. Congrats on #3!!!

Are you drinking enough fluids?
Remember to rest when you can.
I had an "uneasy feeling" with both my babies that is one way I knew I was pregnant the 2nd time. Your hormones could be getting stonger.

There are always bugs going around.

Hello H.,

Are you taking probiotics? or eating yogurt with a good amount of probiotics in it? Also a little ginger tea may help you w/ morning sickness. Also, when you make soup put a just little extra oregano (not too much) (helps w/ stomach discomfort. I hope you're feeling better. there's a nasty bug going around. so wash your hands often. Good luck! ~C.~

Often you get headaches if you're dehydrated. I would call your OB though......sharp pains isn't something I'd mess with.
