JFF: Where Do You Put Your Cell Phone?

JFF....
Where do you put your cell phone, when you are out or in the car?
Pocket?
Purse?
Holding it in your hand?
I mean, what other place is there to hold one's cell phone when out?

Putting it in one's pocket, well if you have a pocket in your outfit/clothing, is common. But then over time, the cell phone leaves a worn impression on your pocket where your cell phone is always in that pocket.
In your purse? Well, when it rings it is just so annoying to fish it out of your purse to answer it and meanwhile it hangs up or the call gets rejected when you are fumbling around to get the darn phone from your purse. Or when it is in your purse you can't even hear it "ring" or vibrate.
Holding it in your hand, well that is just too inconvenient... and you can drop it or loose it.

Just griping here.
As you see, I am in an irritating mood. Must be PMS.

Anyway, where do you put your cell phone when out?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Seems common to put it in a jacket pocket.
But well, I don't wear jackets. No need to here in Hawaii.
People here put it in their back pocket of their pants or whatever pocket in their pants or shorts.

Oh and I put it between my legs too, when driving.
If/when I put it in the cup holder thing, I always forget my cell phone when I get out of the car.

My camera bag has a pocket for camera gear on the outside of it that is the perfect size/shape for my phone.

Its not a sexy/cute/stylish/whatever kind of bag... But it holds my camera, phone, and walking around stuff that I need. With a reeeeally long (Im tall) strap I can wear crosswise.

I just slip in the strap of my bra just above where the cup starts. Noone knows its there (until it starts ringing or vibrating!) and I don't have bulging pockets and my hands are free.

I wear mine. It's quite a slim smartphone, not a big bulky phone. I have a case with a lanyard attachment and my phone is always around my neck. I also found a woman on Etsy who makes very small, nicely made fabric cases. The case is basically the size of the phone, and there's a small pocket inside for ID, and the strap is adjustable and can be worn cross-body style. I really like it.

It has a little cubbie in my car. Otherwise it is on my desk, on the table in front of me or in my pocket. If I am wearing a dress I have a small purse so it goes there.

Like right now it is next to my laptop.

I always keep it in the front pocket, first I won't sit on it and break it, and when I do sit down it stabs my hip bone so I remember to pull it out.

The big thing for me is I do the same thing every time. So when I get up part of the process is picking up my phone. Part of the process of getting out of the car is reaching for the phone.....I am a creature of habit.

When I deployed overseas, we spent a lot of time learning about what happens in a vehicle when it is in a roll-over accident. To put in bluntly: Everything becomes a projectile that can hurt you or knock you out, including your phone. So you should try to secure as much in your vehicle as possible.

I also read or heard somewhere a while back that you should try to secure your phone it somewhere because if you are in an accident, you won't be able to find it.

I always zip my purse closed. Because if you have to slam on your brakes, that thing is going to go flying, and if you have as much stuff in there as I do, you'll take an hour trying to sort it all out. It's not that I don't have the time...it would just annoy the heck out of me. ;-)

I used to keep my phone in the cup holder. Now I usually put it in my purse, and I put my purse on the passenger seat.

Now I'm thinking...maybe I need to buckle that beast in. :-)

several places..

My bra...
my purse
my pocket

depends upon what I am wearing and what I am doing. If it's in my bra or pocket, ring or vibrate - depends upon where I am and what I am doing.

I have a pocket it for it in my purse as well. On the outside so it's easy for me to get to.

In my car? In the cell phone holder. It's secure so it won't go flying around or drop on the floor.

When in the car, it is usually charging, and in a cup holder.

When out and about, I usually wear a cross-body purse that has a small front magnetic-close pocket that has a perfect place for my phone.

If I have to have a diaper bag with (UGH), I clip onto the strap a small cell phone case so I don't have to search through the whole bag.

If I want to be hands free, I put it in my pocket, but don't really do that often--afraid of the radiation.

In my car, I put it in the door handle. In my husband's car--which I drive most of the time--I put it in the cup holder. If I'm on it, then it's in my lap. When I get out of the car, I just drop it into my purse.

My husband keeps his on his belt.

Bagallini use to make a little cell phone case/purse with a long and a short strap (one of each).
I attached that to my purse.
So my phone is in it's case, but it's easily accessible on the outside of my purse.
When I'm driving I set it to vibrate so I don't hear it and then I check it when I get to where I'm going.

Looks like Bagallini doesn't make them anymore but this is the closest thing to it:

Either in my bag.....not normal.

Or

In the car in between my legs. Yep.....I know. creative. It has just always been we where it goes. If I am waiting for a call or text, I can check it at a stop. I dont have to worry about dropping it. My cup holders are notorious for letting them fly around the smallest turn!

When not in the car and out....back pocket. Or coat pocket/pouch.

I get so flipping annoyed when I forget to grab it from the seat! It happens more often then it should!!

I put it in my (very small) purse or the mesh front pocket of my backpack. Or in the pocket of my jacket, if it zips.

Most of the time, I try to leave it as far away from me as possible. Most of my friends know - try the landline first.

I'd send you some chocolate for that PMS, and some red wine too. :)

My purses all have amazing pockets for everything - so when my phone is in my bag I can just go right to that pocket and grab it - super easy, no digging....

I usually don't dig for a phone call anyway - they will leave a message if it is important.

Back Pocket. Switches from my left to my right pocket. I never have an imprint in my jeans though. To answer LillyM's question, it goes in the front pocket when you pee so you can hold on to it along with the front of your pants and pull forward so they don't touch the seat.

My bra or one of the small pockets in my bags or totes, I feel and hear it ringing even if the bag is zipped, I'm super sensitive to sounds and motion because of my fibro. I rarely have pockets and if I carry it in my hand I always lose it, I don't remember where I left it and have to backtrack.

When I'm out and about it's in my front pants pocket.
If I'm wearing something without pockets, which is very rare, I have a wristlet that I will carry it in. I rarely, if ever, put it in my purse since it is so big and a bottomless pit and the pocket designed for it is super easy to pick pocket. I only use the pocket on my bag when I am holding my purse but need to take my phone out of my pocket.
If I'm at home it's sitting by my laptop where I sit.

i currently have a small pocket in my purse where it lives when i'm out, but my purse is wearing out and i'm having an awful time finding one i like that has sufficient compartments. HOW DO WOMEN SURVIVE BIG PURSES WITH NO COMPARTMENTS?????
when i'm in the car it sits in one of the cupholders.
i have an armband holder for it if i'm running or otherwise don't have a purse, but the phone i have now has an otterbox and it won't fit.
life was easier before ubiquitous cell phones!

In the car it is in my purse, or my cupholder. Or, it may be in a slot above my stereo. The one my car came with, the CD player died in it, so I bought a replacement and due to slightly different dimensions, there is a newly created storage slot just above it now. Perfect for a CD case, or to slide my phone into.
I also consider what things become projectile in a crash (crashed once when I was in college years ago and the fold down seats in the back flew down and items from my TRUNK ended up in the front floorboard. Lucky for me, they didn't hit me on the way there.

I think in a regular crash, the in-dash slot is great for my phone. And pretty easy to access if i am immobile in my seat after-the-fact. In a roll-over--all bets are off no matter where you put something.

---
Oh, and when not in the car, I have a slot/pocket in my purse for it. I am extremely picky when it comes to purse purchases, and I ALWAYS carry my purse wherever I go. My keys and phone stay IN my purse, unless I am using them. If I am driving in the car, my phone goes where I mentioned above... if I am a passenger, it stays in my purse unless I am using it.
I am not one to stick my phone in my pocket or jacket. And I never could quite wrap my head around how my daughter found someone's cell phone in a public bathroom stall... (until reading this thread!).

Before the phone I currently have, I had a clip on my phone, and the instant I was in the car, the phone was clipped to my visor. It was part of the "process" of getting in or out of the car---same as hitting the button to the garage door. You reached up to grab the phone and clip it to the pocket on the purse, just before you pulled the keys from the ignition.

i keep it in my back pocket usually but when i pee i'm scared it will slip out and onto the floor or worse so i take it out, and rarely are there purse rests or tp holders that are flat on top most are slanted and i'm afraid again it will fall. so i'm tryign to hold it in my hand and wipe and man that is just inconvenient!

When I am in my car - it sits above my change holder in a small 'console' so I can see if it's ringing. Often I have it plugged in and charging. Or it may be sitting in my cup holder charging if I do not have a drink.

Otherwise it's in my purse. Often if I am in a store, I"ll keep it in my pocket incase I need to call hubby (like if I'm grocery shopping). I have a purse I've been carrying for over a year now (31 bag) that has netted pockets on the side. Perfect for a phone because I can easily fish it out. Often I'll buy a purse that has an outer pocket for my phone because I hate losing it inside my purse.

At work it's on my desk on silent.

At home it's where ever I am and at bedtime, I charge it next to my bed.
