What Is in Your Purse?

Inspired by a previous question, what do you carry in your purse? I rarely carry a purse, so I'm just really curious what others carry with them that makes a purse necessary.

I do drive just about everywhere I go, so I supposed I keep things in my car that others might carry in a purse.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

That is a lot of stuff many people carry in purses. Some people might be surprised by my reaction, but I honestly felt burdened. I love not having all that stuff with me all the time.

What do I keep in my car? I meant that my make-up, a box of kleenex and my checkbook are usually in my car. I can touch up my make-up and grab a few kleenexes before I get out. On the very random chance that I need to write a check (Girls Scout cookies from a co-worker's daughter) I can run out to the car and get it.

I'd have to honestly say that I just don't feel the need to carry around most of the things that have been listed. Sure I need them from time to time, but not often enough to have to carry them everywhere I go!

Can I just answer everthing but the kitchen sink and leave it at that?
I started writing out a list like other ladies are posting and then realized just how long it was getting and that I'd end up writing a novella if I did it that way.
My purse is huge and full and not really a purse as much as a backpack. I carry it instead of a diaper bag unless we're going to be away from the car all day. I have things for everyone in the family in there. It weights a *cough*few*cough* pounds.
It has stuff for changing diapers, things like spare glasses for my son in case something happens to his. Commonly needed meds like asthma inhaler, Tylenol, Tums etc. Hair brush/comb, couple scrunchies. Camera w/batteries & memory cards. Wires and chargers for phones, camera etc. Typical stuff like wallet and checkbook.
I have tried to take things out but it's all stuff we use all the time so I don't bother trying anymore.
It's going to be so weird when the kids get older and we don't need quite so much just to run to the store!

Well, you'll laugh - my friends get a kick out of everything in my purse!!!

this is my purse:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DKNY-Womens-North-South-Nylon-Lea...

Wallet with drivers license, two debit cards, insurance cards, etc. paper money and change.
Pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution
Swiss Army Knife
Plastic diaper wipe holder with diaper wipes
a key set with all my store "savers" cards and an 8gig memory stick
day planner (mom's world Plan-It)
A yellow file folder with coupons (the thin paper one).
small tube of hand lotion
carmex lip balm
an envelope for my receipts
Energizer Spot charger
(cell phone when I'm out)
first aid kit (the little white one you buy at Target with neosporin in it as well)
a black leather note pad with a pen
reading glasses in a case

I know there's more. But that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Feel sorry for to poor lad who ever tries to snatch my purse!!! It won't be as light as he thinks!!!

I had carried a backpack so long, for school, that I became used to having that as my carryall. I used a backpack instead of a purse for years until I finally broke down and got one. I usually keep a roll of toiletpaper on me, because I have bad allergies and now that I have a kid, well you can never go wrong with having some tissue on hand. Just recently I was at the vet and a dog let loose at the front counter right before it was my turn to step up. I took some tissue out of my purse and covered the spill to mark it and so no one else would step on it and track it all over.

I usually have eyedrops, eyeliner, lipgloss, my wallet, Tylenol, gum, car keys, cell phone, wet wipes, notepad and some pens. If we're going to the movies, I'll shove a bag of treats in there too.

My father in law doesn't like to have his keys, wallet, sunglasses and other odds and ends in his pants pockets so he got an old leather camera case with a strap to stuff that all in when he walks around. We laugh and call it his murse. (man purse)

My mother carries around marry-freaking-poppin's carpet bag. I swear, if you asked her for jumper cables, she could find a set in her purse.

spare mouth guards (son takes taekwondo - he needs it for sparring)
If traveling, passports

Every so often I dump it all out and give all the change that accumulates at the bottom to my son so he can feed his piggy bank - it REALLY helps lighten up my purse).

Let's see: I have a wallet with cash, credit card, driver's license, other necessary (well, mostly) cards; a small bag with a comb, an emery board, and a bit of makeup so I can look tolerably decent; sunglasses; a notebook and pen; a magnifying glass (I'm getting older!); car keys; house keys; cell phone; dog treats. People don't all carry dog treats in their purses? Well, we're raising a puppy.

There's room in there for a book and a bottle of water, if I need them. I used to carry a camera all the time, but the camera wore out.

Wow everyone carries way too much stuff around.

I have my wallet, a small one with one credit/debit card, driver’s license, insurance card. If I know I am going to a specific store I may bring that store credit card but I usually just use my debit card.

I keep my house/car keys, lip balm, small pack of tissues, a pen and Kandoo wipes (they are like smaller baby wipes).

When I was single I rarely carried a purse, I don’t like lugging something around with stuff I don’t normally need. And it’s not like there aren’t any stores around if I really need something, I don’t live on a deserted island, lol.

Funny you go with NO purse b/c I tried using a smaller purse last week and couldn't handle it! I switched back to my large back-pack-style purse.

In the small purse, I had:
lip balm, tic-tacs, hankey, knife, wallet, camera, phone, hand sanitizer, advil, couple pens

I couldn't handle it. I'd say "Where's my __?" and after saying that 10 times, just switched back to my big bag. So now, I ALSO have:
vitamins for son, vitamins for me, snacks for me, snacks for son, water bottle, pads, tampons, another hankey, foldable scissors, coupons, more coupons, sanitizing wipes, floss.

I USED to carry around more, which I have now moved to my car, saving me some extra poundage. Used to also carry: Chuck E Cheese tokens, socks for me, socks for son, lots of treats/snacks that just got crushed/broken, notepads, calendar, markers ....

If you leave all your stuff in the car, what do you do when you get to your destination? If I'm at the mall or the zoo or wherever, I don't want to run back to the car for this or that...

My "normal" purse (smaller size): Keys, cellphone, checkbook/wallet, pen, small notepad, hairbrush, chapstick, in one of the zipper pouches: the coupons I plan to use that week and my shopping list, sometimes a lipstick or chapstick, a bandaid dispenser and neosporin spray, gum, small bottle of hand sanitizer, in another zipper pouch 4 tampons.

My "work" purse: (pretty leather, looks kinda like a briefcase but is a purse)-Those things listed above plus my dayplanner (minus the bandaids and neosporin), a file or two, extra red, blue, and black pens, a highlighter, a vanity mirror and small makeup kit that includes a travel size deodorant and toothbrush/scope.

My "I'm gonna be out all day and am still transitioning from the diaperbag" purse: (it's bigger) has all the things in the first purse, plus the dayplanner, a bottle of water, snacks, small toys (lego batman & robin, a couple hotwheels), a little bag of different shaped dice to keep kids busy with math if we're in a restaurant, sunglasses and case, a travel pack of wet wipes, and whatever may be needed that day, depending on what I'm doing.

The diaper bag: finally retiring, except sometimes (depending on what we're doing and how long)....it has a full change of clothes for each child, wet wipes, first aid kit, sanitizer, notebook/pen, $20, tampons, snacks, water, a couple small toys to keep them occupied if we're needing to be quietly entertained. This used to be my purse, but now it's more of a "suitcase" for the day and stays in the car most of the time. :)

I will be honest, I carry really REALLY weird things in my purse. I carry a smaller purse, on account that I don't really care to carry them around, but the amount of things I pack in it is crazy! (Most of it is things that I threw in there for a reason, then forgot to take it back out... this might give me an excuse for me to clean out my purse!) There is also a lot of necessary things I have to carry.
This is my purse. http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Lily-Bloom-NWT-shoulderba...

Wallet
Glucometer
Alcohol wipes
Lancets
Emergency candy (in case of a hypo moment... I'm a type 1 diabetic)
Sunglasses
Keys
Coin pouch
Small container of pain reliever
Tire Gauge
Nail Clippers
Digital Calipers (I have no idea, I think it's my husbands)
Pack of gum
Travel Chopsticks (long story, inside joke)
A Nook wall plug (A friend left it at my house, and I keep forgetting to give it back to her so it lives in my purse at the moment)
Pocket Calculator (It's the size of a credit card)
iPod
Phone
Jewelers Loupe
assorted gemstones (none are worth anything, but I was showing them to someone, so they could pick a color they liked, and forgot to take them out.)
Baltic Amber with a bug in it (It amuses the kids when I really need them to be quiet for a few minutes)
Lots of Pens
A Pencil
and a Lip gloss!

Wow I really miss the days when I was a teenager and all I needed was to carry a wallet in my pocket!
I saw another person saying their husband went on an insulin pump! BEST THING EVER! Before I went on the pump I had an insulin vile and syringes (Which was a huge pain when ever I had to go through a metal detector, and I had to explain it) After that I used insulin pens, which were easier, but I still had to carry the pens and the pin tip needles! ANNOYING! I used to tell people the bottom of my purse was full of pocket change and medical waste. *LAUGH*
