Hi all:) I've tried all the different "folds" for my diva cup and I just can't get it to seal correctly. Anyone got a trick that worked for them?
Also, anyone prefer sea sponges? I'm thinking about switching.
Thanks for any input!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Is it hard for you ladies to spin yours? Mine really doesn't SPIN. I wonder if I'm not pushing it in far enough, I'll try pushing it farther. Thanks:)

For everyone who hasn't heard of them... www.divacup.com
google "sea sponge tampons" and you'll find lots of info and places to buy them

The DivaCup isn't as messy as Instead cups because it's deeper and there's something to hang onto when you pull it out. However, the nice thing about Instead if that you can have sex with them in, you can't do that with any other option out there (tampons, sponges, silicone sups, etc...).

I've been reading on them and am thinking about trying it next month. One woman said she had to spin it around to get to seal. My plan was to wear a cloth pad as back-up until I am comfortable with everything. I'm anxious to hear how it works for you!

I had trouble at first, but now that I've had my diva cup a while, I am getting better at it. I don't do a fancy fold. They all seemed too complicated and too confusing. I just fold it in half, then fold it in half again (is that the c-fold?)and insert it halfway. Then slide my fingers down a little toward the bottom of the cup to let go of the fold. I turn it halfway, then push it up the rest of the way. I'm pretty sure I read those instructions on the info sheet that came with it. Good luck! After a lot of practice, I love my diva cup!!

Mine was fine when i first got it. Now it's hit or miss. I'm using it right now and had no problems yesterday but today it's a mess???
I noticed that yesterday it would spin easier than today. But I don't get why it would change. I have found that if you twist it as you are inserting it deeper, it seals better. It depends on if it opens completely. So try to fold it only enough to insert it comfortably.
I have never heard of the sea sponge. Now, I'm curious.
Good Luck.

As Joyce said, will you share about this Diva cup and Natural sea sponge? I also prefer natural methods of most things, and would like to learn what you're talking about :)

for everyone who's asking; a diva cup is a little silicone cup tampon thing. sea sponges are also natural tampons.

i prefer sea sponges. i haven't tried the diva cup but i have used instead cups and i just can't handle the blood spilling all over my fingers, toilet, sink, etc. yuk.

i LOVE glad rags and am totally converted to those. they were especially nice for 2-month-long lochia after childbirth!
the reasons i love them; they don't irritate my skin. they are really cotton, not "cotton-like"-- so much more comfortable. no more cramping and pain. natural and reusable--good for planet :)

What area are you in, i hardly ever see posts from natural mamas. i sound exactly like you and live in the youngstown area, just had my 5th home birth and i tandem nurse too!

i have used the diva cup on and off and always leak, so i guess my seal is not good. i find when i lay down to insert it it works better, have you tried that? and yes, try to spin it.

Well I am pregnant right now and am planing on nursing on demand so more then likely won't be needing a cup till the baby is close to 18months (that's how old my daughter was when I got my period back) but when I do start up again I am going to be trying the diva cup. When I had a diaphragm that I used as contraception my midwife told me that you could use it during your period to keep things 'clean' while shnooging. I did that frequently and never had any problems so I am looking forward to trying the cup.... I know it's no help to what you were asking specifically but just thought I would share my thoughts :X lol.
