Hi ladies,

I just found out my son was recommended to see an eye doctor after getting an eye test at school. He is almost 5 and very, very shy around strangers. Does anyone know of an eye doctor or office that is really good with children? Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

K.

I have taken my 3 year old to Walter Cukrowski. He is at 32000 Woodward Ave In Royal Oak. ###-###-#### THat is about 14 mile and Woodward so it is not too far from Troy.

He is WONDERFUL with little ones! My son was almost 3 at the time. THe office even has a play area in the wait room. My pediatrician recommended him because hwe was so good with kids. He is an older man and knows his job and kids well.

I also recommend Dr. Cukrowski (pronounced sukrowski) in Royal Oak. I had to take my 5 year old daughter there and he was very gentle and amusing for her. The admin/support staff are also great with kids.

On a side note, right next door is a pediatric ENT office (Dr. Rudrick & Dr. Boucher. They also came recommended to me and are great for any ear nose and throat issues! Between the two offices - you got the whole head covered - lol

If you're willing to travel to Grosse Pointe, see Dr. Edward O'Malley. He's the best. He's a pediatric specialist.

Dr. John Baker, Dr. Roarty and Dr. Lisa Bohra all work for Childrens Eye Care through Childrens Hospital but they have office ours at the Stilson Center in Clinton Twp now too. It would be a drive for you but they are pediatric opthalmologists and work with kids every day. The Clinton Twp office is on Garfield near 19 Mile and the waiting room is very kid friendly. My daughter is 10 and has gone to them since she was 3. She even had to have eye surgery a few years ago which can play on a mother's worst fears and I must say that Dr. Bohra did a fantastic job! Very highly recommended.

My son sees Dr. Roarty at Children's, and he is excellent. All of the ophthalmologists there are very good. Dr. Walter Cukrowski, on Woodward in Royal Oak, is also excellent. Good luck--

I used to take my grandkids to the big Henry Ford eye care center on Big Beaver. They were great with children!
