I had a small period each month for the last 3 but for the last year they have been hit or miss. I was on BCso I thought things were getting better. I just found out that I am over 3 months pregnant. In the last 3 months I have drank maybe once a week or every other week...2 to 3 glasses of wine or a mixed drink. I am freaking out, I feel like I cant talk to my dr. about it...because I feel like such a bad person. Has anyone know some one that drank while pregnant...I am worried about the baby.

What can I do next?

The same thing happened to me - and we went to weddings the two weeks before I found out. My periods were always very irregular so without any symptoms I didn't think that was an option! I am due in June and it has been a great pregnancy with a healthy boy! I would just let your doctor know that you drank - I did the same and he was not concerned.

Seriously, dont stress...and tell your OB about ALL of your concerns. If you can't be open with him/her about something this minor, then you are going to have issues.

I did not know I was pregnant with my first child until I was nearly 16 weeks. I had an eating disorder and drank heavily. The day I found out I was pregnant all of my habits changed. He is now a handsome, intelligent and athletic 9yr old.

My point is, a few glasses of wine here and there didnt/will not harm your child.

Congrats and good luck!

i'm sure you're fine, only having a couple drinks once a week or less isn't nearly as bad as you'd think (although not advisable). it's women who have a tendency to still drink and get drunk or drink more than a few drinks on more of a daily basis.

you're body does a lot to protect the baby in the beginning, so i'm sure you're better off than you think. always tell your doctor the truth, how else can he help you?

best of luck, and breath easy.

you should definitely tell your doctor so any preventive measures that can be taken, can be taken. i'm sure your doctor has heard & seen worse. i pray that all is well with your child.

No one knows the magic amount where FAS happens. In Europe, they drink a glass of wine daily and never think twice. If you were not drinking every day and not getting totally smashed when you did (at least not everytime), I'm sure you'll be fine. It IS OK to talk to your OB about it. They'll understand that you didn't know. It happens ALL THE TIME! Then when you have the big ultrasound, they can look for the physical markers that are associated with FAS to rule it out as much as possible. It will be fine, Take a deep breath and relax. Your worry is likely more harmful at this point than the alcohol you drank :)

You have to talk to your Dr. trust me they have seen it all. My best friend went through the same situation, she was 12 wk pregnant when she found out and she has a healthy, beautiful baby boy. Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy.

Don't be ashamed. You had no idea that you were pregnant when this happened. It would be the best thing to speak with your doctor because they will go out of their way to make sure your baby is OK. I had a similar situation. I recently found out I am pregnant and already 4 months and although it wasn't regular drinking I did drink at least 2 times but in large amounts. I told the doctor and they were very nice about it and checked to make sure baby is ok and they are keeping a eye on my baby because of this. Speak out to your MD, that the best thing to do. Hope this helps a bit.

I wouldn't even sweat the fact that you've had some drinks. Many people don't find out they are pregnant right away and do worse things while pregnant. Now you know and can take care of yourself from here on out.

Congratulations!

The same thing happened to me, and yes I was freaking out too. I told the Dr and he said it wasn't anything to worry about, and I have a wonderful, healthy 3 yr old girl. They do routine genetic testings and screening, along with ultrasounds, so you should be reassured with that too. Talk to your Dr, that will help ease your stress levels, and everything will be fine!!!

Don't stess and certainly mention it to your doctor. Getting off your mind and not worrying about it will be good for you both mentally and physically. My husband and I thought we would never have a baby naturaly. Then I came to him and said I'm late, should I take a test. He said to wait until I am 2 weeks late. The next day we off to our annual Memorial trip to Havasu where I drank, was on a boat bouncing around and in 117 degree weather. Two days later I found out I was pregnant. Things turned out fine. When I mentioned my big weekend to my doctor she said not to worry and didn't treatment any differnet afterwards. But certainly talk about it with your doctor.
