When a Mom is “Alone” with her Thoughts
Once upon a time, a mom was alone with her thoughts… We all know that’s a fairy tale.
There’s a running monologue in my head 24/7, that is often both nonsensical and disorganized. If I were an internet browser, I’d have too many tabs open at once and quite a few webpages would be crashing.
No matter how many lists, apps, and calendars I have, it’s hard to keep track. Life stuff. Work stuff. Kid stuff. Love stuff. Health stuff. Home stuff. And how to prioritize which comes first at any given time?
I think part of the problem is there is very little uninterrupted time to think. To plan. To strategize. Let alone actually accomplish anything!
With two young children home during the day, I’m kind of screwed. The other day I was making a salad for lunch. Nothing fancy. A simple salad with lettuce, carrots, radishes, etc. It took me 46 minutes to make the salad! I’d get a chop or two in and then someone would hit someone or spill milk or take off their diaper. It’s my new diet. Eat like a rabbit and take half the day to prepare your food!
So I’m always pleasantly surprised to get some quiet time. And so when my daughter fell asleep in the car (again), I shot this little peek inside my brain. Hope you enjoy!
