Do You Take a Lot of Prescriptions?

I am just curious about this. My sister was over at my house the other day and opened my medicine cabinent and she yelled "Good Heavens! What is all of this?" She was freaking out because I take 5 prescriptions on a regular basis (for things like acid reflux, allergies, etc.) and vitamins on top of that. She was floored about it. I am 29 and I never really gave much thought to it. But she is 28 and thinks I am taking a ridiculous amount of meds & vitamins. So, just to satisfy my curiosity I want to see if I am in the norm or not. So - How...

Claritin and Other Allergy Meds

My son often gets runny nose/cough symptoms and my pediatrician has recommended that I try putting him on Claritin to manage those symptoms. I am reluctant to put him on medicine for prolonged periods of time. Dose anyone have information about any potential harmful effects of long-term use of allergy medicines in toddlers? Also, any suggestions of natural remedies that have worked would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not Breathing Scare -- Teeth-Brushing -- Input???

I just had a scare with my 2-1/2-year-old daughter. I was trying to brush her teeth. And as the dentist told me to do, I was having to hold her down on the floor, gently, with my legs holding her arms down. (It is awful, but at 2- 1/2 she still won't cooperate and doesn't brush her teeth well if at all.)She was screaming as always, wiggling, trying to get away and then she wasnt breathing and started turning blue! Immediately I held her up, blew in her face trying to get her to gasp for air and then let her go because she was trying...

Can You Tell a Doctor No?

As my children are fairly heatlhy they don't go to the doctor very often. However, I had to take my 14 year old son in for a sports physical yesterday so that he can run track at his school. While we did get him a physical at the same time last year, the doctor wasn't available so we saw a physician's assistant. Therefore, this was only the second time this doctor has ever seen him in the last two or three years. At the end of the physical, the doctor let me know my son was flat footed. That obviously wasn't that big of a concern. The...

Claritin Side Effects with Toddlers

Has anyone given claritin to a toddler and experience behavioral side-effects? My 2.5 year old has been taking Claritin for a little over a week and has been acting up much more than usual (e.g., throwing things and hitting). I realize that some of his behaviors are typical 2 year old behaviors, but his behavior definitely seems to have changed since starting the allergy medicine.
