Trying to Break Daughters Habit of Licking Her Mouth, It's So Chapped and Red

My daughter is 3 years old. She has developed this habit of licking all around her mouth. It's all red and chapped all the way around! We keep telling her to stop licking when we see her doing it. But she doesn't even relize when she is doing it. Is there something I can put on her that will protect the chapped area, maybe keep her from licking, but that isn't toxic if she licks it? Is A&D cream, petroleuim and lanolin, going to make her sick if she licks that? Maybe something that tastes bad so she will break the habit. Help! She...

knock on wood nothing yet in my house but i need to get prepared. i am just trying to prevent more ear infections for my daughter. last June she had a cold, sinus pressure which resulted in double ear infection. I was too late even though i posted here about sudafed and went and bough a pack of the original sudafed (the box said for age 6 and up). well, i don't know what happened from june to now but now that same package says 12 and up. so my daughter is not allowed to have it. plus, feeling like a criminal when inquiring about this...

Nasty Diaper Rash

My daughter is almost 20 months old. She's had the upper respritory cough and congestion for a little while and is cutting her canine teeth, so when she developed this nasty diaper rash 2 1/2 weeks ago, I wasn't too concerned, and it started to go away last week, then as it was almost nearly all gone, it came back with a vengence. I've tried letting it air dry, wiping her butt with a warm washcloth, coating her butt, with either A&D, Desitin, Butt Paste, and numerous other products.
