Hello My name is Heidi Hennigan and I am birth doula! A doula is professional labor coach. Some of the things that I offer are: Two prenatal home visits to discuss what the parents want in their birth experience, Labor room education, breastfeeding education. I plan to be at their birth from the beginning to the end plus a few hours after to help make sure everyone is settled and breastfeeding is established. There is also 1-2 appointments after the birth to answer questions and share the birth story. I am also on call for phone calls of any related nature. One big question that gets asked is if a doula replaces a Dad? Yes a dad and a doula have a similar role in supporting the mom, but there is a difference. A doula has experience that she can use to help dad become the best coach he can be. A doula will let Dad do as much or as little as he feels comfortable doing.
I am certified as a birth doula through Doula's of North America, CD(DONA). And I am trained with TOLABOR. I do have references.

Heidi has been my doula for two of my 8 children. I am so thankful for her knowledge, tender care, and how conscientiously she includes my husband. She is always someone who I can call for questions or support.
She is a great communicator. I never have to wonder when she will be available or how she can or cannot help because she always tells me.
During labor, I really appreciate her knowledge of different things to try and her patience.
I highly recommend Heidi as a doula.
Heidi was just the right person to help me bring my twins into this world. I was very impressed with how well she handled me (I can be very stuborn), my husband and the fact that this was a multiple birth. Even though this was her first birthing of multiples Heidi never ceased to amaze me with her calm nature. Toward the end of my prengnancy things were getting very difficult for me and she helped me through homiopathic remidies to try to get labor to progress. After two agonizing weeks I decided to have a c-section. Heidi was unable to be in the O.R. but she remaind at the hospital the rest of the day switching out with my husband as he needed rest too. She checked up on me periodicly at the hospital and once I got home. If your looking for a doula that will inform you on the birthing process and someone who will be there when you need her then I HIGHLY recomend Heidi. She truly is thee best.
