As the school year kicks off, Heather Henry is opening a private music studio from her home and spaces are currently available. Many instruments are offered.
Heather Henry graduated from a top ten music school, Northwestern University, with a bachelor in Music. She studied as a violin performance major as well as music education. She has a rich background in teaching in all different types of areas - from the inner city Southside of Chicago residents to an upscale suburban Christian Academy, all ages - from children to adults, various ability levels – with a dynamic interest in special needs individuals, and a variety of instruments – violin, viola, cello, piano and beginning guitar.
Her students have gone on to take principal seats in top regional orchestras like IMEA, progressed to the head of their classes at Northwestern University Youth Strings violin and cello programs, and performed at Chicago’s famed House of Blues. While some are currently performing and recording music in their first professional bands around Chicago another preteen recently won an international talent competition and is being invited to audition for music and movies in LA as well as private screenings for major networks like Disney. These things are all good and fun, but most importantly everyone learns how to learn, how to practice the right way, and how to love making music.
Heather moved from Chicago a few years ago with a young family and has been a music teacher for over 10 years. One day a week will be open for homeschooling students who would prefer to take lessons during normal public school hours.

I haven't worked with Heather in a musical capacity, but want to vouch for her incredible way with children of all ages. She is patient, kind, innovative and full of excitement and enthusiasm when it comes to anything involving children. She will find the right way to teach each child what they need to learn and do it in a way that makes the child desire to learn more. When my children get a little older, Heather will be who I turn to (if she has any openings by then ;)
Heather Henry is a fine musician who has an understanding of children and a gift of teaching. Heather quickly evaluated my grandson's learning style and has tailored music choices to meet his interests. She keeps lessons fun, yet challenging. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a music teacher.
Heather is teaching guitar to my son who is special needs with Asperger's Syndrome. Heather always appears to be excited to see him and it makes him feel very welcome and special. She is amazing at tailoring the lessons to Scott's mood at that time and letting him play his favorite songs to make it more enjoyable for him. She is very flexible regarding scheduling and rescheduling when unforeseen circumstances pop up. We would highly recommend her to anyone who wishes to have music lessons.

Heather is passionate about both music and children. Prior to moving to Texas, Heather worked in the Chicago school system. Although instruments were not available, Heather raised funds and accepted donations for a children's guitar rock band! She is dedicated to her work and creating a nurturing environment for students learning to play instrucments.
I brought my granddaughter to Heather for piano lessons and she was amazing with her! My granddaughter, Naomi, was very excited to begin lessons. Heather was extrememly professional and she held Naomi's attention throughout the entire lesson. I am planning to take guitar lessons from Heather as I believe in her as a teacher and a friend. I highly recommend her to teach lessons to any child or anyone.
My children have been taking lessons with Heather for a year now. My children have made amazing progress. I would recommend her to any friend or family, and feel that finding her was a gift. She is amazing with kids. She has a treasure box filled with things that kids love, such as web-kinz. My kids get a "buck" each week, if they return their practice sheet filled out and signed by me. They can save their money and shop in her treasure box. That is a huge motivator, along with the fact that they are making great progress. I feel that she knows the personality of each of my children, and works with each of them in the best way possible.
Not only a warm and wonderful person, Heather is GREAT with kids. She is so calm and yet enthusiastic, I fully trust her with my children, not only as a teacher, but a model of happy, healthy character.
