I've been a mom for 5 years and an educator for nearly 17---5 years as a teacher and 12 as an administrator (principal, vice principal, director) in traditional public and public charter schools in grades K-high school in 3 states.
I meet parents parents here and there and inevitably once they find out what I do for a living, they have a questions= or two about their child's education or school. I've also found that even after 17 years in education, I have a hard time making decisions for our kids' education, too. It became clear to me that many parents, to no fault of their own, have no idea what schools are like now and are not sure where to turn for real, honest answers. I launched this blog to help parents understand things from an educator’s perspective, navigate a complicated education terrain, and hopefully shed some light on how to work best with educators while making informed decisions for their child. While I don't have all the answers, I do have thoughts to offer based on my experience as an educator and as a mom. So, consider me your insider princi-PAL.
