A Place for Me is a wonderful orginization and a helpful resource in the community. Elaine Reeves-Haywood and her team are outstanding!! I will always be greatful to A Place for Me and look forward to the many great things they are doing for our families.
We have benefited from the recreation for parents, children and caregivers. We don't have much experience with the other aspects of the business such as education, support and advocacy because my son's primary diagnosis is Down syndrome. Autism is a secondary disability for him so we haven't been involved that much with the organization.
"A Place for Me" is a great resource for parents and caregivers of children affected by autism. All recreations outing are well organized and will keep you coming back for more. Elaine also has a child with autism. She has worked very hard to help him achieve his goals.
If you are looking for someone to answer any questions about Autism, please contact her. I give her 5 stars.

Great resource and social outlet for families dealing with autism spectrum disorder. The training have been very well put together and the social activities for the kids have been so much fun!
A Place for Me is an organization that is resourceful and an asset. Elaine is knowledgeable and experienced in assisting parents of children diagnosed w/in the autism spectrum. Elaine attended an annual IEP for my kid. She acted as my consultant with school and administrative staff. The some of the staff attempted to minimize and dismiss my concerns when questioned about the lack of appropriate educational material and non committed teachers assigned to further my child's educational needs in a classroom setting. It was so frustrating to have my child attend class color pictures and other kindergarten and first grade school work sent home( this was 3rd grade). I talked and wrote notes to the teachers. I met with them but no changes occurred until right before the annual review when they started giving my child challenging school work. When Elaine and I met with the staff at the annual review (IEP) it was obvious that there was no excuse for the lack of appropriate school work given. Elaine's input really was beneficial and her ideas were included in my child's plan for the current and following school year. I had a better relationship with teachers the next school year.
Great Organization! Great Support Service! Great Founder!
The hard work, sincerity, dedication, commitment and love that Elaine has put into A Place For Me, NFP has been outstanding. This business has really helped to promote autism and its awareness. The invaluable information and help to families with relatives who have autism have been and is constantly remarkable. Elaine keep up the phenomenal work! Truly a job well done!
A Place for Me is an excellent not-for-profit that works to help Autistic children and their families. Elaine goes above and beyond to help people and to advocate for autistic children.
A Place for Me is a wonderful resource!
I have had the opportunity to observe Ms. Reeves-Haywood work tiredlessly to obtain funding and resources to aid children and families who are affected by autism. I have attended a couple of the recreational events and found them to be well organized and great fun. Most importantly the children and their families surely experience a sense of community: The families are comforted in the fact that all who attend the events understand the experiences of having love ones affected by autism; the children can play without the stare and redicule that one might experience within the general public. Everyone has a great time and can give support and share information with families who have similar concerns. "A Place For Me" describes the sentiment of all the families who search for help and understanding in normalizing the lives of their autistic children.
I can't say enough about the support and information that parents receive from A Place For Me! Elaine Reeves-Haywood is awesome! She is knowledgeable, full of practical ideas that help parents promote their child's growth and well being. Parents who have children with autism or any special need benefit from her wisdom and experience. Parents are partners in planning events and supports for their whole families as well as their children.
Elaine is dedicated to assisting children affected by autism and their families. She provides sensible and practical information for families, caregivers and educators that is immediately applicable and valuable experiences for the children.
I have had many opportunties to take atvantage of the great events A Place For Me and offered to families, and we have an amazing time. My children are do not have autism, but my daughter enjoys being a part of fun and festivities. She is 11, and I don't think she cares or notices any differences. We have a great time, and the families that need the support are overwhelmed by the connection and caring...thanks Elaine!
The organization is wonderful and the
family events they have for the children really help their self esteem. Our kids have indulged in Sock Hops, bowling, skating and dinner dances. We continue to support them.
A Place for me is an amazing program and support base for African American families with autistic children.
A Place for Me is a wonderful organization that is trying to fill a void in areas where services are almost nonexistent in communities on the south side of Chicago. The founder is amazing. Elaine is hardworking and dedicated to being a champion for those who have been affected by autism. The workshops are relevant and give a special perspective since the founder also has a child affected by autism. Those affected by autism are often excluded from some of the recreational activities that most children participate in. A Place For Me has sponsored special activities to allow families to participate in events that they may never otherwise get a chance to experience. This organization will advocate for children in dreaded IEP meetings and other settings. I endorse and recommend this organization to others.
It takes a village to raise a child, and since we're all over the chicagoland area, this is a great place to share, encourage, and assist wherever needed. Thank you Sister Elaine for taking the point on this. We are blessed to know you.
