Laurie Berkner Band. She's the rock star of the toddler set. They Might Be Giants has a series of kids music ("Here Comes the ABCs", "Here Comes the 123s", etc.). Trout Fishing in America. Dan Zanes.
My 13 year old daughter is taking over a once a month story time at our local library. It's geared toward 3-7 year olds and it includes a story, craft, snack and activity or movement/music time each month. We need a few music CDs to have on hand for background music and/or the movement time activity (think freeze dance or songs with actions that go along with them). We are a LONG way from music of that kind and we have no idea what kids that age might find fun or interesting.
Do you have a favorite CD that might work for this type of event? Thanks!

There are some holiday ones here, as well, but I (and probably many others have holiday playlists. These are just his favorite.). Haven't bought a CD in a coins age, so these are all individual songs.
My son's (appropriate! he also had a think for punkrock we'll skip) favs at that age were:
- SingSingSing! - Benny Goodman
- Bug Rock Candy Mountains
- Carina Burrana O Fortuna
- Carol of the Bells (Yes. Year round) - Mormon Tabernacle Choir
- Sea Monster (pegleg tango cd song by Ben Folds CD by Capt. Bogg & Salty)
- Breathe - Prodigy
- Mah nomina nah! - Muppets
- Dreamers - Muppets
- Intro - Fraggle Rock
- US history, kids music...., GAH. I can't remember the title!
- Monster Mash
Songs for wiggleworms is a favorite at our daycare...also I second the recommendation for Raffi, but you would have to find the upbeat ones.
Raffi has lots of fun songs.
Greg and Steve have a freeze dance and animal action song
newer artists that are pretty popular are Laurie berkener and Dan Zane(s) but i don't realy lilke them much other than maybe in the car as sort of back ground noise.
I'd be interested to see what others suggest. If she is already at teh library just grab a few cds and see what she likes. (at home ahead of time)
How awesome for your DD and the families that get to benefit from this. Super Super awesome kid!
Another vote for Laurie Berkner! Both our kids (a girl and a boy) went through phases where they loved her.
Justin Roberts is our all time favorite for kids! His songs are catchy and fun for kids and adults. Our favorite album is Meltdown, but we have several and they are all great.
