Yellow Scalp- NOT Flaky, Not Dry, Not Scaly, Just Yellow

Hi,
I wonder whether anyone else's baby has had this: the skin on my 8-month old daughter's scalp - only the top middle section of it - is yellow. In the front, under her hairline, it looks a little patchy, but further back it just seems to have a yellowish tint to it. It is NOT scaly, flaky, or dry.

She is otherwise healthy, happy, etc.

She does it carrots and sweet potatoes regularly - could that be the cause? To be honest I just don't recall whether she had this during the time when she was strictly on breastmilk.

Any ideas?

What can I do next?

I agree it is cradle cap. For my daughter we had to put baby oil on her head and leave it for a while then take a baby comb and keep going through her hair... it helps pull up the yellow stuff but it does not hurt the baby. Also combing the hair after a good bath helps too.

I like the advise to use a tooth brush. Although, you do not want a soft tooth brush... you want one that is medium or hard... because you want to work the scaling off.

This is cradle cap. Rubbing oils into her scalp will help break it up.

Sounds like cradle cap. Gently brush her head with a toothbrush in a circular motion after her bath. Also, put oil (I always used olive or coconut. Baby oils clog the pours) and let it sit for 30-45 minutes, then brush her head. Do this before the bath.

my nephew had the same issues. Tried everything from greasy oil to applying aquaphor(sp?) cream daily after some looking around we came across something called original sprout craddle cap shampoo/conditioner/lotion it worked wonders right away. We find it at our local sunflower market look at whole foods/wild oats places like that. or you can always order online. does not leave greasy feeling or foul smell.
