Y Mammogram Part Deux

Okay.

Here's a brief rundown. On May 7, 2012, I had a mammogram. They asked to see if something that the radiologist was looking at could be viewed on my prior mammogram.

They now want me to have a second mammogram, on my right breast. The imaging people told me that they code these as "1" through "4". "4" is more suspicious. Whatever it is they are looking at on mine is coded as a "0".

Any feedback is most appreciated.

Thank You.

E.

So What Happened?

I went in for my follow-up mammogram and everything was fine. To say I was relieved is an understatement.

This experience has taught me a few things. First of all, I love and need my husband and children, and they love and need me just as much. I didn't, for this whole weekend, have a moment where I could just freak out and tremble in a corner, as much as I wanted to.

If I ever knew that a friend or even someone I didn't hardly know was going through this very same thing, I would offer to come with her or him, just to hold their hand and be there for them.

Having just had a mammogram I know how scary it can be when they need to take more pics. If 1-4 is their scale, with 4 being the worst, and this is a 0, then chances are there was something wrong with the way you were standing, the way the machine was or something like that.

I wouldn't be worried at all.

*hugs*

The 0 means that the results are inconclusive for whatever reason. They probably didn't get a good shot. So this could be bad OR good. Getting a1 would be what you would want. The Birad code actually goes to 5 which is obviously the highest suspicion of cancer. Even at 5 the mammo rating is sometimes wrong though.

Just had my mammogram this morning!

It's quite possible they didn't get a perfect shot because of slight movement. Sounds like they are being thorough and that is great.

Best of luck, let us know :)

If they said it was a 0 then don't worry. They like to do a second to be sure. Maybe you moved slightly or they didn't have the machine set up just right.

I know I had a hard time staying still with my breast crushed in that thing.
