Hey K.,
If you have a yeast infection it will not affect the outcome of the pregnancy test. If you think you are pregnant and the at home test isn't showing positive yet you can always get a blood test. Good luck!
Hi All, i am sure you have seen my other posts on here. still pretty sure i am pg but still havent gotten a BFP. i was wondering if a yeast infection would effect the PG test result? a few of my friends have said yes, and then they also told me that i am most likely pg cause i do have a yeast infection, i guess its an early sign of pregnancy? this happen to anyone?? the last time i tested was last week. i think i will test again tomorrow. also anyone ever been pregnant and breastfeeding? The past 5 days my breasts have been feeling funny when my daughter nurses, its like a really tight pinching feeling, but she is latched on like she is supposed to. when she isnt nursing they just feel achy and another thing they dont seem to get "FULL" like they used to. its weird? but i was thinking if i really am pregnant "like i think i am!" my milk might be diminishing? any help would be great! thanks!

I am almost 6 months pregnant and still breastfeeding. I have 100% colostrum now, DD still likes it, although it doesn't fill her up. Only about 16% of people actually dry up, just because you don't feel full doesn't mean you don't have milk.
But that tight, pinching feeling could also be yeast/thrush on your breast.
If you are pregnant your milk will start to taste salty, so even though your daughter is getting milk, she may still want some water after nursing. Even though I felt like there was nothing there my daughter said that she still got some.

Nope, a yeast infection should not affect a pregnancy test at all. In fact, with my older daughter I did not get a positive test until I was 7 weeks along and I did not have a YI, but with my younger I got a + at only 4 weeks along WITH a YI. I nursed all the way through my second pregnancy even though my milk dried up sometime during the 2nd trimester.
Your symptoms sound like pg symptoms, but sometimes people's minds can make them have physical symptoms of pregnancy. I've done it a couple of times before. I thought I might be pregnant, I started getting symptoms, but I really wasn't... it was my mind and body tricking me. It happened both times around the time I started getting my fertility back after having my daughters so my body was a little wonky anyhow.
Anyhow, best wishes! I second the idea of going to your doctor and getting a blood test done if you test negative next time you test.

Hi you can get pregnant while breast feeding it happened to my mother 3 times not sure the symptoms of the breast milk.
Hi K.,
Did a home pregnancy test work the first time you had a child? I'm only asking because over the counter tests don't work on everyone. I was over three months pregnant, had positive blood tests, before the over the counter tests worked for me. You are right the yeast infection smell can be a sign of pregnancy and not a yeast infection at all. I don't know you well enough to help with that one! Thinking about it, the best way to check for pregnancy on a daily or weekly basis might be basal body temperature taking. www.fertilityfriend.com can be a lifesaver that way. You can even post your temp chart and people who have been through it all can look at temp drops and rises to help walk you through what you are seeing. Take care!
I would either go to the Dr, or go to a place like "Pregnancy Resorce Center" I dont know where you live, but I know there is one is corvallis, If you just google "pregnancy center" you should be able to find one in your area. I never like going to the health department myself. If it free to go to the PG centers too.
I think normally the breastmilk change is at like 3 or 4 months; maybe you are just ('just,' she says) stressed and that is affecting your breastfeeding/supply ...
Dunno on the yeast.
A yeast infection should not affect the results of a pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests detect a hormone called HcG. Once a fertilized egg implants in the uterus it begins to release the hormone and the levels double every 2-3 days, thus giving you a positive pregnancy test. I have never heard a yeast infection being an early sign of pregnancy because seemingly the 2 would be unrelated. If you take a pg test too early you can get false negatives since the HcG level isn't high enough yet to be detected. So, try taking another test if you still think you are pregnant. Best of luck!
Pregnancy can decrease your milk supply, but I think it is pretty early for you. It takes more hormones to affect you supply enough to notice. Chances are it is your anxiety or stress causing a change. I have never heard of a yeast infection interfering witht he test results, and it doesn't even make sense. Yeast cannot "eat" the HCG! If you take a test with your first morning urine now, then chances are very high that a negative test correctly means you are not pregnant.
Hi K., I don't know if a yeast infection will affect a pg test but I did get a YI early in my first pregnancy. Also, I got pregnant again when my first was 6 months old, and still breastfeeding. I know some people are able to continue breastfeeding, but my milk dried up pretty quick and was gone in about 2 months. If I were you I'd go to your doctor and get a test or Planned Parenthood does them for free. Good luck!
If you're still not getting a positive (I read your previous post more than a week ago I believe), you're probably not pregnant. Found a resource in your area that might put you in the right direction for finding a provider who can give you a blood test so you can confirm, and know for sure. It sure sounds like you've been concerned about this for a while.

Contact them, tell them you can't afford to see your doctor for a blood test, but really need to know if you are pregnant or not. If you are pregnant, and you have a yeast infection, you really do need to be seeing someone for pre-natal care anyways!!
Hi K.,
A yeast infection shouldn't affect a pregnancy test, but I would say it is common for a lot of women to get one early in pregnancy. I would recommend that you find a doctor that will confirm your pregnancy with a blood test so you know for sure.
I didn't know I was pregnant while I was breastfeeding my daughter, but I do remember feeding times feeling very different, and almost burning when the milk let down. Even though my breasts felt full the whole time, when I would pump I would barely get an ounce of milk. It took me almost 5 months to finally go to a doctor (I was completely clueless and convinced I wasn't pregnant). I'm now 26 weeks pregnant and unable to nurse, I just didn't produce enough to milk and my daughter now rejects me :(
Go take a blood test to know for sure, urine tests are hit or miss...
Good luck and keep us posted!
