Hi J.!
How I hate age spots!! I'll tell you what I know:
Always wear a wide-brim hat in the sun.
If it's overcast and you're going to be out gardening, wear it anyway because we are still at risk for skin cancer, I learned.
Wear sun block ONLY with titanium dioxide or zinc. There's one other that is acceptable...Mex something. A young man with had skin cancer joked with the interviewer, "If you can't say the ingredient, don't use it." I use Bullfrog, $10.00. Whole Foods has one by Dr. T...something for $20.00. It's a well known brand in their lotions section. The man said the inside of ears must NOT be forgotten (place skin cancer is being found now). I also learned lately that the scalp is the most common place skin cancer is found. I have so many Neutragena blocks, etc., but now I am going to trust mainly in what the man shared on KRON Sat. morning.
Primary physicians will give you an RX for age spots. It plugs away at them. Dermatologists can write one for $75.00 that is amazing!! It's so expensive, but it really shows results!
Wear long sleeves or sun protection gear whenever you can take the heat. I bought an SPF 20 swimsuit cover online. Lorraines is the site I bought it from. The San Diego hat company is closing, and their last items are being sold.
I would suggest you wear gloves gardening. Your hands might be next. Wear gloves while driving. Bike gloves are easy to get on and off.
Hope you're having a great summer!
Best,
G.
