Worried About Where My Pills Went.

Hello!
I am currently taking Zofran for pregnancy sickness. I got my prescription filled yesterday, the bottle said it contained 20. I take, at the most, 4 a day. Tonight, when I opened up the bottle, there was only two left. Now, I dont not leave my children unattended so, while I was here, they didnt touch it. I called my husband to make sure my son didnt get ahold of it earlier while I was gone. I did leave it on the table, but there is no way he would have been able to get the bottle open. I didnt count the pills when I got them because I just figured it was right. I have checked everywhere just to make sure they didnt spill anywhere. Is it possible Walgreens just gave me the wrong amount???? Im kind of freaking out. And will they even believe me or know if they gave me the wrong amount??

The date on the bottle says 10/7/2010
The bottle was in the same spot I left it, so I know it wasnt messed with.

What can I do next?

When I took it, they never had enough in stock and owed me more later. Don't know if that is normal for this medication.

What is the date on our prescription label? Is it possible it is your old bottle?

Call the pharmacy and explain what is going on..they can check their inventory to see if they are "long" on pills. I work in a pharmacy and although we all try to be as careful as possible, sometimes counting mistakes DO happen. According to my calculations it sounds like you may be 15 pills short....and anything in multiples of 5 makes sense because that is how the technicians count out the pills (5, 10, 15 etc). The sooner you check on it the better because then they have a better chance of reconciling it.

I also take Zofran for pregnancy nausea, and I also get it from Walgreens (what a coincidence!) Sometimes if I take the prescription back too soon before the preferred time set by my insurance company, they'll only give me 5 pills instead of 10. Maybe this could be happening to you as well? Good luck!

Call the drugstore and see if they knowingly left some out because they ran out and they owe the rest to you free as soon as they come in. Course, they are supposed to tell you when you buy it. And, it doesn't make sense that you didn't notice you only had a few pills left the last time you took it. Presume you don't have dogs because they could not have left them on the counter just so.

If the date on the botttle is 10/7 (yesterday), then you can easily do the math. That doesn't answer any question, but helps you eliminate possibilities. If you get more pills and your drugstore doesn't owe them to you, you will probably have to pay out of pocket for more instead of through insurance. They will sell you more if you tell them they disappeared (lost, stolen, you don't know).

Always check your prescriptions!! Twice I have received prescriptions that were meant for someone else. That should never happen, but you know no one is perfect and we all make mistakes, but it's better to be safe.

I had that problem with a RX last month. Only gave me 30 instead of 60. Didn't even question it when I went back in with the problem. I guess it was a good thing it wasn't a controlled substance. They need some better quality control.

We don't go to Walgreens at all anymore. Years ago my grandmother got her scrip filled and she told them that those weren't her pills. Blood pressure meds. SHE said they were wrong and the pharmacist told her SHE was wrong. Well, my grandmother was dead the next day cuz instead of lowering her blood pressure, it raised it and killed her. They were the wrong pills. Now, I'm not saying that they are all like that, but ever since, I don't trust them. If your insurance will let you, go somewhere else. Oh, and the family sued and won! Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck and god bless.
