Hi Everyone,
My husband and I are working on a compromise and I need your help! We are almost to the point of decorating our new addition which will be a family room(or his "man-space") and I 100% do not want animals hanging on my walls. My beloved is all about log-cabin/rustic, dead-animals, etc so I said how about animal or landscape photos/prints.
Of course the problem is I don't know any nice atrists or where to get these photos/prints? Pleae give me your suggestions and ideas as animals creep me out!
THANKS!

What can I do next?

If these are animals that HE has hunted and had professionally tax'd and it's HIS space, why not let him decorate it as he chooses?

While aesthetically I agree, unless you are a non leather or wool wearing vegan, the whole moral argument is somewhat moot.

Try www.allposters.com. On the site, you can pick from several prints and different mattes and frames. I've also used their feature on the site which allows you to frame a print and select the color of your wall. It will give you an idea of how it will look in your home.

I hope this helps.

You can say you don't want your child raised in an environment where killing animals for fun is advocated and showcased. Nature prints, pictures and National Geographic tear outs and posters should be fine for the animal part.

www.posters.com has posters, framed prints, and canvas prints. I've gotten a few things from them and have been happy with the quality.

If it is truly meant to be his man-cave, and he hunted and killed the animals himself, you should let him hang up his trophies. I get that you don't want to look at it, but how much time will you really be spending in there? You can make a deal that if he has to have his trophies...he's responsible for keeping it clean...lol.

Google Terry Redlin and see if his art is something that you and your husband would like. I've always loved his prints.

Good luck,

Go online to "Celebrate Home" - it is a home decorating company that used to be "Home Interiors" & "home & garden party". They have some great "manly man" prints and you won't be disappointed with the quality. I believe you can order from one of their consultants as well if there's one in your area. I would compromise with him though - Two animal prints and ONE landscape print BUT there needs to a neutral throw blanket and pillows and at least one rustic candle piece in the room : )

You can get murals from any of the wall paper design books, shops, websites, etc.
My uncle did this kind of thing down in the basement. It has a mural of a lake with an eagle and mountains on one wall. He has a wall covering that is very much like a log cabin, I think it is just a type of paneling.
He wrapped the structure poles with birch bark wallpaper.
He has a closet that juts out and he put rustic paneling, painted it red and carved a crescent moon in the door, instant outhouse/storage closet. He used outside furniture, cedar rockers and Adirondack chirs. The carpet is a deep tan and my Grandfather made rug hook area rugs that look like leaves.
There are no dead animals.

Perhaps you could work in some antler light fixtures. There are many places that make these from seasonally shed antlers (animals are not harmed) and he can have a lodge feeling without stuffed dead animals hanging on the wall and animal skin rugs on the floor. Stuffed dead animals outside of a museum just creep me out.
