*edited* Hello all! I have Gestational Diabetes for the 2nd time around. It seems like the one thing that made the biggest difference last time was being more active. In the evenings & morning, my blood sugar is fine as I run around getting things taken care of at home regardless of what I eat. Unfortunately I work in an office & sit on my butt all day. Even when I eat way low-carb during lunch, my blood sugar is always high in the afternoon. I've even eaten leftovers of a low-carb dinner from the night before cutting even more carbs during lunch. Whereas my blood sugar would have been just over 100 an hour after eating dinner, it was closer to 150 an hour after lunch the next day!
Right now my ankle is killing me and I can barely walk (old injury I accidentally aggravated), so walking during the lunch hour is out of the question. The other thing I did last time around was go to the ladies room farther away (it's about 1/2 a block on the other end of the building) so I would be more active throughout the day & that helped a lot. Once again, with my ankle bothering me that's kinda hard right now...
Any ideas of other things I could do to get my activity level up during the day? It's only high during the afternoons at work when I'm not so active. =o/
Thanks for the ideas, mamas! The main issue was even with a heavy-dutly lace-up, metal support brace from after I broke my ankle/leg 3 years ago, I was still having trouble walking the 15 ft to the printer across the room in the office! Luckily it seems to be doing better this week, so I'll go back to walking the 1/2 block down the hall to the ladies' room every hour or so (since I have to go that often anyway! LOL)

Arm circles or bicep curls at the desk?
Try to get up and move around every hour....bathroom, water refill, avross the building. Most will involve walking though.
Most activity will involve walking so maybe you could wrap your ankle and maybe elevate while you are sitting but them walk more. Park farther from the door, take the long way to the rest room or other offices. Walk during your lunch break. If you can, try to walk some in between arriving at work and taking lunch and again between lunch and end of day. Take the stairs when you can.
I had the same problem and the afternoon numbers were my problem too.
