Mamas & Papas-

Seems I will be e-working 3 days a week come July. My workstation will be sent home, and on the days I do report to the office, I will be sharing a hotel cube. Meanwhile, any tips for what I can get to safeguard the two flatscreen monitors, mouse, keyboard, and terminal when I gete it home. I'd love a desk where I can somehow lock the top down. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
F. B..

What can I do next?

I know you are a New Yorker so space is an issue but maybe this solution could work for you. We converted a closet into my husband's home office. He took all of the shelving out and put in a desk shelf (correct height and very sturdy). Then he put shelves above the desk which house his printer and other office items. On the shelf directly above his desk, he installed puck lights to have enough lighting. Since the closet has enough height, we made use of all the vertical space above his desk so we didn't lose too much storage space. All of his equipment is hidden and safe from our toddler when he closes the door. Not to mention we don't have to look at it all when he's off duty (no pressure for him to keep his desk tidy). Otherwise, Ikea has pretty good office armoire/desk solutions which we considered before the closet reno. Good luck.

Check with Ikea and se if they can help. They have all sorts of cabinets that fold out into a desk situation, then you close it all up.

I haven't seen roll top desks in a while. Id check a Solid Woods type store. or Oak Barn.

Move your clothes into a dresser and move your office into your closet.

When you are not working you can shut it away and put a lock on the closet if needed.

I work on my laptop in dining room during the day, but I keep all of my office items, printer, supplies, etc in the closet. It has worked great for me!
