Work for a 45 Year Old!

I have been all over looking for work and getting nowhere. about 300 resumes and applications and only 4 responses. Doesn't sound right to me at this point. I am wondering if my employer and past employer is stating more then they should. I have been an excellent hard worker for such little pay and then some. I am doing my resumes up to date. And learning how to apply myself. But it's not working, is it my age and can it be that I'm just not a good canidate for the position I'm applying for. I have the experience and I definitly qualify for them.
I went online to improve my resumes and apps. But I need to know more I suppose. Next time I plan on asking the person who gave me the interview if there was a reason that stopped them from hiring me. The questions just might help me. But I am asking mamasource if they have any idea's.
Thank You M. L.

Hi M.:

I wasn't sure if you live in Las Vegas or not but my son had the same problem. When we had first moved here he had a real hard time even getting a call back. A neighbor who had experienced the same problem a few years earlier suggested he change his references to only people who resided in Las Vegas. For some reason this made him seem more "anchored" here and the first job he applied for after the change hired him! Also, maybe you can try being a substitute at first so you get some local experience.

Hi M.. I will honestly state that I have NEVER been turned down when I went in for an interview. I'm a real people person, and I always make sure to smile the whole time and look them in the eyes....I would love to talk about your interviewing styles. Maybe I could help coach you or something. I'm not very attractive so its not my looks that get me the job. lol. For any interview that you embark upon, you need to look at who you are doing it with. In other words, what kind of job are you looking for? Do you shake their hand firmly? Talk only when they ask you something? Do you smile and look them in the eyes? Please write me and we can talk more ok? Plus, I'm sure all the Mama's here will help you out. My email is ____@____.com
Good luck and Best Wishes, T.

Hi M.,
It sounds like you are having more trouble getting the interview, than interviewing. If you would like, you can send me your res and I will take a look and see if there are any open ended statements that are leaving questions for the reader. I write a lot of documentation for the county and write everything in a manner in which it may be read by all readers. I also have a lot of my work reviewed by a second reader before I publish it for office staff. We can give it a try. ____@____.com

Hello M.,
I have had the same difficulties myself, I also asked the same question's is a past employer saying to much or to little, Then I would ask if I presented myself in a satisfactory manner or not etc.
I asked a few prospective employer's what I was doing wrong, one was really helpful and the other took a real offence that I would ask such a question. I simple said I am just trying to correct any negative's and make it a positive for me she would not tell me and asked me to take my resume and leave.
So I am no sure if this would be of any interest but let me introduce my self a little more maybe what I am doing will be helpful to you.
I just wanted to introduce myself real quick.
My name is C. and I'm a mom of two kids. I've been a medical assistant for 9 years and decided it was time to start taking care of my own children. My oldest is almost 11 now. Anyway, I started my search to look for something to do from home. I was very skeptical, especially since I have family and friends in the legal field telling me horror stories on home based businesses. I wanted something legitimate. Well, much to my surprise I found something and just in time. I am still able to do my career full time and my home based business also.

I just wanted to share my web site with you. If you are happy at your job, that's awesome. But this can maybe help out and give you some supplemental income. Maybe you are a stay-at-home mom or wife and this is just what you're looking for. Well, I have done this for a three month's now around my children's busy schedules, and home schooling and it has been a true blessing for us.

Have you thought of applying with the school district? You could work as a teacher's assistant in Kindergarten or for special ed. THe pay is not great, but the benefits will be good. If you are in Vegas, check out the jobs on line at www.ccsd.net. I know they are always looking for people.
Good luck!

Hi there M.,

Are you still looking for work? I hope you've found something great!

Have you ever considered working at home. Since your children are a little older, it might be easier for you to spend some time on a business. I know you have a lot of responses on here. I don't want to overwhelm you. I'm not a pushy sales lady. No pressure. I've found a company that is helping me build an at home business that actually works. I don't have to sell anything either. I'm really excited about it! I'd be happy to chat with you about it if you are interested or just curious. You can contact me directly through mamasource or check out my website.

Good luck to you!
