My friend tried the ad for sewing at home. Total rip-off. Cloth was trashy. badly cut, no room to sew edges. If you didn't make them to their standards you had to buy the materials used at an inflated price.
Hello mama's
I am trying to reorganize my home and work life. What are some of the work at home jobs that are out there? what are your, your family or friends experiences with them?
I did consult my place of employment to ask about my position and working from home. I will continue to seek a good fit for me and my family. Thank you all for taking the time to share the info!

Hello Cherie. I have been a work at home mother and I know the blessings and joy you experience from being there with your family. I have experinced some real gimmicks and scams out there, but I finally have partnered with a company that has an excellent rating with the BBB. There is No Selling, No Inventory and most of all No Stress!!! You can either work part time to supplement your income or even replace it all together. HI Cherie,
Nowadays there are a ton of jobs where you can work from home. I think that a lot of people now realize that you can successfully work from home. For example, I used to be a psychotherapist (and then I had kids and didn't want to work every night until 9pm), so now I am a business owner with a company called Arbonne International. It's fantastic b/c I can work my business around my children and life and I have already almost matched my income as a therapist. If you are interested at all, you might want to check out Arbonne's main website- www.arbonne.com and in the rt hand lower corner, there is a 1 minute video that gives you a bit of an idea of what it's about. Good for you for looking into an alternative to going to an office. Best of luck with your endeavors. Have a great weekend! *C.
Working from home is a job and takes discipline. We run our LLC from home and we work 24/7. I am always checking email, taking a customer call, making some sort of traffic call for pick up or travel arrangements. We are not a MLM company recruiting. We are consultants and brokers for the raw materials industry.
I don't know if I could do this with little ones under foot and do it well. It depends on how organized you are. I am very organized and I stay focused on the business because it is what puts food on our table and keeps us going. Managing a multi million dollar business (and any business) takes a LOT of effort and time.
A lot of companies are saving money by hiring telecommuters. You need a good internet connection and work skills.
You'll get a lot of offers for MLM's and if that is what you are looking for....it is work too.... you have to build a customer base and recruit new people to your fold.
Hi Cherie -
I have a few options for you! I am an Avon lady (love it! Just deliver magazines to homes every few weeks and the customers can either call me/ e-mail me/ or order on line and have it sent directly to them!) YourAvon.com/CarrieEdwards - if you are interested in looking at that one.
I also am an independent distributor for Send Out Cards (SendOutCards.com/CarrieEdwards) It's a fabulous system for businesses and personal use!!
Lastly, I'm a Virtual Assistant. Basically, I help companies and individuals with adminstrative and customer service related work - but from my home in my time and get paid pretty well for it!
I'm happy to tell you more about any of these, just shoot me an e-mail!
Good luck & God Bless!

I work from home and love it. It can be a challenge in the summer with juggling kids activities during the day plus friends etc. Right now I have the tv in the background which when they are in school I like the quiet (my office is not enclosed ---- yet). I agree as to the organization, set your office hours and let the kids and spouse know. What you do will make a difference in your hours, whether you will have to make calls, go out to meet or present, or if doing online.
One of the main reasons I love working from home is the flexibility I have and I am my own boss now as I have 2 businesses that I run. This past spring I was able to work at my daughter's school fair - a first for me since before was in corp America.
As to jobs. So much depends on what you want to make, the time you have to dedicate to it and what are your interests. Definitely check out any company to see how long they have been in business, what kind of "investment" they want you to make and really when checking them out think as to whether it sounds right. Any bells go off - run.
For me, I am a marketing consultant and recruiter in one of my businesses. I love helping people and meeting a variety of people. I had never done this type of work before, but I have a great support team and the company is a company of high integrity. And yes, the compensation has great potential.
I have worked as a recruiter from home. You need to set ground rules and a routine.
Pick an area of the home that you can use to work - get up in the AM and get ready for work. Don't do the laundry, run errands, etc. - unless it is your lunch time - trust me - you can get caught up in the "well, I'm home so I'll...." no - you are working.
Talk to your boss and see if you can work from home.
If you have to pay for something - information, etc.then it is NOT a real job and is a scam.
Go to craigslist and search for telecommuting positions in your area. You will be surprised with what you see.
I work from home as a business analyst. I work early so I can get off when my kids get out of school, but in the summer they go to day camp all day every day - I could not do my job with them at home.
Most companies that allow telecommuting require you to have childcare, I know mine does. They are paying you to do a job, they deserve your undivided attention. The only companies I've seen that allow you to work from home and not have childcare are MLM sales type positions or selling your own products you make, like on etsy or ebay. If that's what you want, great! But if you're looking for a more traditional professional position you might have to get childcare at least part time.
