Hi there. I am wondering if any of you moms delivered at Woodwinds. I know nothing about it, but came across the website when trying to find a place that has both midwives and doulas for delivery. Did you like it? Last time I delivered at Mercy, and it was fine, I am just looking for a different experience this time around. What clinic did you attend to be able to deliver at Woodwinds? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the advice! I'm really looking forward to my first visit at the Woodwinds Health East Clinic. I have not had a good experience with Generations Women's Health and was disappointed, but now I am excited again to find this great clinic! Thanks to all you moms who gave it such good reviews!

My daughter just had a baby at Woodwinds this week. The hospital was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were really big and nice and clean. The staff was great. It was like going to a hotel. She said the food was good too. She had a midwife deliver, that went well too.

The whole experience got an A+.
I definitely would recommend it.

I delivered at Woodwinds and thought it was nice but I don't know what to compare it to. What I liked was that it was small - no parking ramp, elevator to get in to the building, go to a different wing, take another elevator, etc...

They have massage therapists on hand - I had a massage the day after delivering, which was great.

They give you aromatherapeutic bath salts for your bath.

What I didn't like was that it was super busy and the nurses didn't have time for me. (Although this may be the case for all hospitals when busy.)

I saw mid-wife Anne Johnson at the Roselawn Ave HealthEast Clinic. I loved her! I also had a doula, who practically delivered my second born. They know how to work with mid-wives and doulas at Woodwinds.

If you're interested in a waterbirth you have to go through the mid-wives. (At least that was the case a few years ago.)

Abbey,
My sister-in-law and another good friend both delivered at Woodwinds. It's an excellent facility and provides a great deal of options for an expectant mother. They have a pretty solid "natural" philosopy, and from what I understand they offer birthing tubs, doulas, and even massage! How nice!!! They also have no problem giving an epidural when a person wants, which is nice as well. The rooms are great and it's been a nice place for us to visit. If only we lived closer, we'd be delivering our next there too!

I can highly recommend Woodwinds! My son was born there in 2006 and I honestly can't wait to have our second child so we can go there again. The experience was that good, and yes, I felt like I was on vacation! I felt like I was in good hands, the care was excellent, and the facility is like no other.

I did not deliver at WW I did however deliver at St John's and loved it. I have been to WW for other tests and lots of friends had their babies there. I love the feel at WW almost like you at a resort up north somewhere. The clinic that I go to does deliver at WW the name is Comprehensive Healthcare for Women also in Woodbury. I see Dr Mahan and she is just great. You can reach them at ###-###-####
http://www.chcw.net/ They do a program called the pampered pregnancy and they were just so great to me.

I delivered my baby at Woodwinds, but didn't take him home with me. Woodwinds works hard to market the hospital as one of the Top 10 in the country, and I took that to mean that they could deliver babies. But, if you read the ads and stories they've pitched to the media, they've earned Top 10 status based on how comfortable they are for moms. If you experience complications during labor or delivery, Woodwinds isn't equiped--with the knowledge, experience or people--for a safe delivery or infant resucitation. St. Joseph's is a higher-rated trauma center in the HealthEast organization, or go to the highest-rated trauma center, United, to ensure you bring your newborn home with you.

I didn't have a good experience at Woodwinds. I would never deliver there again. I think most hospitals around the twin cities allow you to have a midwife and a doula. Good Luck.

I had both of my girls at Woowinds and loved it. They do all of the little "extras" like when we were going home they sent us with a bag lunch for when we got home so we didn't need to cook right away. Also they gave me the option of bringing my baby into the tub with me for her 1st bath. The rooms are huge and it is so nice and clean. The midwives are AWESOME!!!!
I went to Healtheast Woodbury Clinic in the hospital (even though I live 1/2 mile from St. Johns) - I just love Woodwinds, and so did my visitors!!

I did not give birth at Woodwinds, but I do go there regularly for lab services (xrays). I have told my husband that if I need to go into the hospital that is where I am to go. The staff there is wonderful and it does seem so clean and I can totally understand the hotel comment. I know that my doctor actually is Dr Kerry Sheehy (who is awesome!!) of Healtheast Woodbury on the Woodwinds campus and they do have midwives through that clinic as well.
Good luck amd congratulations.

Hello! I delivered at Woodwinds also and it was amazing! I went to the HealthEast Woodbury Clinic that is attached to the Woodwinds hospital. It was so nice there - I had a LONG and difficult labor and they let me go 36 hours with my water broke to have the baby naturally and she finally did come on her own... I think most other hospitals would have called for a C-section long before that. I used the midwives there but not a doula. I would recommend Woodwinds to anyone! If you have any other questions, feel free to message me!

Abbey,

If you are still looking at other facilities, and are interested in a Midwife assisted birth (vs. OB), I highly recommend St. Joe's in downtown St. Paul and the Midwives at Generation's Women's Clinic.

I delivered my second baby at St. Josephs in 2006 and am having #3 there in Nov.

Good luck with your decision.
