Just wondering if anyone knows of any good wood floor cleaners?
We have real hardwood floors, but it is pre-finished so I cant use just anyting on them. I already tried the Murphys oil and that made them dull and our socks were sticking to the floor. We are trying to sell our home and looking for something to perk them up...something that will not only clean them up but also make them shine...they are in really good shape, no scratches or anything just dull.
I love Home Depots Zep brand cleaner. Its just a spray and go so you dont have to ring out and mop and get out a bucket.

You will be 100% happy with Aulwood.(Aulwood multipurpose cleaner and polish for light and dark finishes) It's hard to find. They used to sell it at Lyndale Garden Center, but that's closed. Recently I've found it at hardware stores. Your floors will be sooo shiny. But be careful, they can be slippery for the first couple of days until it kind of soaks in. For about a half of bucket of warm water, just pour for maybe 4 or 5 seconds, not much. You can experiment with the ratio. I swear by this. It's makes our floors look amazing.
Orange Glo makes a kit that I use on my hardwood. It has a cleaner and than a sealer and it comes with its own little mop. I use it once or twice a year. It really make my floors look shiny. You can get it for about 12/15 dollars at home depot.
i have used plegde in the past. spray it on the floor and have the kids walk on the floor in their socking feet. just be careful as this can make the floor a little too slick!!!

If you like you can use orange oil. It is supposed to only be used for dusting wood furniture but it works well on floors and gives them that nice shine you are looking for. Try it in one small room if you are not sure about it. But be carefull because it can make your floor very slippery. It just shines them so much you can slide around in your sox. And you only need a small amount for a great result.
I agree that Murphy's is the WORST stuff you can use. I used to live in a very old house w/ hardwood floors and all the recommendations I received were for vinegar and water. It is all natural and it did the best job of cleaning them and keeping them looking great.
Every professioal house cleaner that I've talk to lately uses a viniger water solution on wood floors, but I don't know the ratio. I'd check with Pete's Hardwood Floors on Selby and Fairview.

Hi there. When we had our floors refinished a few years ago, the company recommended putting about a quarter-cup of Windex in a bucket of water. It's simple, but it works great.
Hi i own a floorcovering company and can tell u now that murphy's is the worst thing u can possibly use on a floor. Please do not do that again! If you need a good cleaner for your floor u can pick up an armstrong product from any local floorstoor such as jerrys or carpet king or flooring expo. They have many locations between the 3 so u should have no problem finding one local to you. They run any where from 7 - 20 dollars depending on the coverage u will need.
