Hi Moms,

My son will be two this October and we're thinking of taking him out to the Wisconsin Dells for a few nights. I'm looking at the Atlantis Hotel which has a water park for under 11's.

Does anyone have any experience with a toddler at the Dells? Is it worth going or is it best suited to older kids? Does anyone have any suggestions for other places to take a toddler for a night or two? We're hoping to stay within a few hours of the Twin Cities and be able to have good activities for him.

I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks so much!! You moms are the best:)

We took our 2YO this last spring and stayed at the Great Wolf resort (or wolf something, can't remember the name exactly). He had a great time and there were plenty of things to keep him and us occupied. He loves water so he thought it was a blast and even went down some of the easier slides, the tube ones, with us that allowed kids to go with their parents as long as they could reach and hang on to the tube handles. They had kiddie slides too and a water spray play area that he really liked.

We stayed at the Copa Cabana last winter. There toddler swim area is GREAT! It is only 2-3 feet deep with a pirate ship to play in. They do have a deeper pool in another room.. The place itself is a little older, but we had a great experience. Look it up--if you want any pictures send me a private message and I can email you some.

We took my daughter who was two years old at the time to Mt. Olympus in WI. Not exactly the Dells, but just as fun. We kept her in the kiddie pool area and was fine. The lifeguards help keep the older kids from getting in and being too rough with the younger kids. Please note, this is indoors so no sunblock needed (one less thing to worry about).

We took our then 4yo daughter and 1yo daughter to the Kalahari Resort in the Dells a few years back. I too had worries that they were too young but we were blown away at how baby/toddler friendly this resort was! It had a couple huge toddler areas w/ little slides, water spouts, treehouse, etc. My girls were in heaven! They also had a huge wave pool and lazy river that we took advantage of (I held my 1 yo in my lap on the tube and she loved it!). We also went during the fall and got a very reasonable rate that included waterpark admission. The room was HUGE and very child-friendly, we were very happy! The only obvious minus to going to the Dells in the non-summer months is there are a lot of attractions that are closed (like the big outdoor waterparks and amusement parks) but w/ such small children we would have been unable to enjoy those big ride w/ them anyways. We did find go-karts, mini golf, and the Ducks (those water/land vehicle things that the kids LOVE) were all open. Also the fall color on the trees was gorgeous, so it made for a beautiful little road trip. We are actually thinking of going again this fall w/ our now 3 kids (ages 7, 4 and 2.) I highly recommend it! Have fun!:)
