How do I pop up the calculator quickly? I went to the little pop up sidebar and then searched calc but I was hoping there was a faster way.
I agree GrammaG - it seems when they try and make things "easier" they give us less control over what we want to do. Grrr
Ok well I just did a search for it and when I had it, I pinned it to the taskbar. Now I have to look at it all the time LOL

right clik on an empty space in metro on the bottom click all apps, it's listed there. You can pin it to metro or the task bar in classic desktop view.
I absolutely hat this new program. I wish I had not bought a new computer. BUT Staples does offer a free tutorial so I am hoping that questions like this one will have an easy answer.
I want to sign in and it go to my desktop, not the app page. I want to be able to click on exactly what "I" want and not go through that mess of stuff.

Hold down the Windows Key and tap R ... then type in CALC and hit ENTER
I'm glad you figured it out. My son got the Windows 8 free trial back in June, and talked me into getting it for my laptop back in June, too. I LOVE it! It did take some getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, I wouldn't go back to anything else.
is that little bugger in the toolbar at the top of the screen on 8? It is on 9
