So What Happened?

Thanks, We never have cake because my son and I have celiac disease. This was...note was, a gluten free carrot cake. Carot Cake with cream cheese frosting is my absolute favorite. Luckily, it was a very small cake to begin with - but yeah, it is gone. Now I don't have to eat it. LOL

If anyone is wondering where I will be today, you will find me on the eliptical!

throw it in the trash and dump coffee grounds on it. If you still eat it after that, seek professional help!

I have no problem tossing large portions of dessert and candy into my trash. Cake- gone, Halloween candy - gone. I don't think of it as wasteful. I think of it as saving my precious body from garbage.

Well carrots are veggies so it's obvious that your body is just craving veggies. That would be the story I'd be sticking to.

I know that your question is light hearted and so are the responses, heck I can hear your carrot cake screaming out my name, but the truth of the matter is that it's because sugar is addictive. Just like alcohol, nicotine and narcotics, our bodies get something and once we have it we want it more and more. It is literally a food addiction and our brains respond the exact same way to the sugar as it would to a narcotic. There are even 12 step programs to help. When an addict quits a drug they are told to stay away from it, and the people/places who they associate with said drug. They simply cannot be around the drugs because the temptation can be to strong. But the thing about food addiction is that we have to eat. And it is hard to avoid the bad foods especially at this time of year. So, I apologise for the seriousness of my response, but the only way for you to stop is to not have it in the house in the first place.

I can be the same way, which is why I keep certain things away from me. I found a gluten free bakery near my house, and I LOOOOVE carrot cake (with cream cheese icing). One way I curb myself is to order cupcakes instead of a whole cake. This way, I feel like I am finished when I finish one little cake. Also, I let myself off the hook because I expect to eat it until it's gone. And then I don't place another order for months.

Slice it into serving sizes and wrap up each slice...then put the slices into the freezer. Then ration the servings. One per day, one every other day, one per week. Whatever you feel best about. But you know you won't be wasting the cake, and you will be exercising control over your own will.

Willpower.

You can do this.

When it comes to carrot cake I have no resistance! I either have to give it away or throw it away. And when I say throw it away, I mean take it out of the house and put it in the big trash tote!

Another thing I do, is when I have a reason to have cake in the house, such as a birthday party,. I buy or make a small cake. Just enough to give everyone a piece. I don't want any leftovers!

If it's not in the house, I can't eat it! LOL

Put it in the freezer. The voice that calls gets smaller, colder and not as inviting!

It has carrots in it, and you'll try to rationalize that it's healthier than most cakes. It's not.

Like the poster below said, put it in the garbage and bury it. That's what we've learned to do in this house. You don't get seconds of the cakes. They go into the garbage.

I'm the same way so this season I'll go to make something like that and stop myself, because I have such a sweet tooth.

Make gingerbread cookies instead, while I still want to keep going back for another they're at least lower in fat!

I don't know. I've never liked carrot cake. If it's not chocolate or strawberry it's not worth the calories, Unfortunately for me there; an overabundance of both in our house right now. Our church had a Cookie Walk on Saturday.

Uh huh - yep!
I totally GET it!
It calls to you "Eat me - EAT ME!" like a siren song that can not be ignored.
I can resist everything except temptation (Oscar Wild).

Hi! My name is B and I'm a junk-food-oholic!
This is why I rarely have cookies/cakes/candy/junk food in the house.
Birthdays and a few selected holidays are the only exceptions and on THOSE occasions I must drink a glass of water and eat a carrot or celery stick every time I think of sneaking a bite/piece when there is no one else home AND I must figure out how many calories are in it and how much exercise it will take to burn it off again.
A moment on the lips - a lifetime on the hips!
I will NOT be a CLOSET snacker!

Throw it away if necessary! :) Glad to know that I'm not the only one that does this from time to time. Yum though...I love carrot cake too
I've had to do it before with a pan of No Bake Cookies when I was pregnant....I ate half the pan and thought to myself...I really can't stop eating this!...then tossed it in the garbage.
