Ahhh...rookie mistake...candy shells belong on CHOCOLATE...not fruit flavored sugar... stick with M&M's ;-)
I got a pack of skittles the other day and have been allowing myself to have a few here and there.
Anyway they replaced lime with green apple. While I wasnt a fan of lime atleast it wasnt overwhelming and I didnt mind it. Now if you pop a few into your mouth all you can taste is green apple. So now I have to look and pick and choose when I want to eat a few! It's redonkulous if you ask M.. What brilliant guy said, I know what we'll do with our product people have loved for years put in an overwhelming flavor so if you dont like it you're screwed. Even if you did like green apple candy it's all you can taste. Bad move papa skittle! bad move indeed!
Has anyone had these? what are your thoughts?
If they were smart they'd do a red and purple pack like starbust did instead of putting more disgusing flavors in it.
Has any of your favorite candies changed over the years?
I certainly dont want to taste the rainbow anymore!
Jo- yup red standard bag and says NOW WITH GREEN APPLE
Ahhh...rookie mistake...candy shells belong on CHOCOLATE...not fruit flavored sugar... stick with M&M's ;-)
I have not had skittles in years so I have not noticed the change, but they changed candy hearts and the new ones suck!
I've always hated skittles. Nasty little things!
As long as they don't mess with cherry Starburst, I'll be okay. I'd blow a gasket if they changed Starburst.
I kinda like the green apple flavor. But I'm the type of person that has to eat all the yellow first (least favorite), then orange, then green, then purple and last red. So I am constantly looking at what flavors I get before I put them in my mouth - but I can see where it would be overwhelming if your J. putting in a few in your mouth at a time!
I didn't realize they changed them until my daughter gave M. a bag for Mother's Day. I love green apple, but it is overpowering with the other flavors. I eat all the other combined, but keep the green apple separate.
Write to them and complain. They do listen to customer complaints and if enough people complain they might change it back.
Did you know that Skittles has the most HFCS/sugar and artificial food coloring of all of the candies available? It's the candy that children get the most sick from. Nasty, nasty stuff.
I love M. some Skittles too. It must be all that HECS/Sugar and artificial food coloring....if its bad for M., I want it. I 100000% agree with you. I hate the green apple, I did love the lime though. Do you remember back in the day when Starburst had lime starburts....those were my fav too.
Another candy I wish they'd bring back is PBMax. I was born in 78 so these candies might be before your time.
Glad I'm not the only one who hates the new skittles!
I noticed that when I was sharing a pack here and there with my little guy after Easter, we don't like the green apple :(
I go waaaaay back and most candies have changed a lot over my lifetime, many no longer available. The only one still relatively the same is Milky Way, I hoard those when I get some and don't share ;) But one I wish I could find without having to order a case, since I don't eat candy often, is Violet Crumble, a chocolate coated honeycomb.

ETA - I was intrigued by Julie G's comment about Darkside Skittles so went and Googled them, found this fun blog post on Skittles, someone mentioned in a comment about the green apple ones, too.

Yep, the red bag has been ruined :-/
We J. finished a bag of darkside skittles---they were awesome.
I didn't notice a taste change, but until recently, I hadn't had skittles in like 20 years.
I love skittles.
I have not eaten skittles in years. Anything with the artifical dyes or chocolate we have to elliminate in this house.
I still love Ferra Pan Lemon heads, if you are ever in Chicago. Go to Forest Park where the factory is and get them from there, you will never eat them from anywhere else agian. :)
Are you sure you bought the right bag. There are around four different varieties. Only the red bag has the lime.
Well that's not right.
I J. purchased the purple bag last night at Wal-Mart I sure hope they didn't change those too! Green Apple yuck!
I haven't tried them, but I did see that on a package of them today.
On my way to the store to try those( hope I don't regret it) and darkside. Will report back:P
I LOVE Skittles. Not a fan of the tropical ones, red pack for M..
ETA: Okay, I don't mind the green ones that much, but then again I never mix the colors anyway. Purple, then red are still my fav.
I've crossed over to the darkside hehe. Forbidden fruit is yummy.
I agree - the green ones were MUCH better before they switched the flavor. I don't feel like the rest of the pack tastes like the green apple though.
I don't eat candy often, but I hate green apple and blue raspberry flavors. SweetTarts also changed their flavors awhile back. Gag.
I never put more than one candy in my mouth at one time, so I would only taste one flavour at a time. I am not a big candy eater, so a bag of skittles would last M. a week.
Do people usually eat more than one flavour at a time?
So, I J. asked my kids. The ten year old only eats one at a time, and the seven year old doesn't eat them at all.
Oh no! Thanks for the warning, as I do NOT do green apple anything. I did love M. some Skittles, but I guess I'll have to avoid the green ones if "they're not ripe yet" ;)
I'm so anti-change when I love a candy, that I didn't like the color change to M&Ms and it didn't even make a difference to how they taste!
I'm not a big candy eater, but I do miss my good ole Hostess snacks... Sigh, what I wouldn't give for a Ho-Ho right now :( Little Debbie's were J. never the same...
