I'm getting so sick of being TOLD this thing or that person is great, wonderful or a MUST have.
What do you find overrated?
Mine is the (it's a weird list)
The Kardashians--
Lady Gaga--poor man's Madonna
Katy Perry
Twitter--I'm not important enough
bottled water-- (luckily our city was voted having the best water in the entire country)
Victoria Secret--hello, DD is NOT that unusual in this country
vampire ANYTHING--don't get it at ALL
Mine is definitely Kim K. I just think I sucks how much money and publicity she made over her wedding and subsequent divorce. It makes me sad that she was with him, engaged, married, and divorced in under two years, and my two best friends can't marry each other, after being in a loving, monogamous relationship for 5 years already.
I am soooooo over Kim K, she makes me sick.

New cars (THEY ARE NOT AN INVESTMENT PEOPLE!)
Living beyond your means
Holidays not being celebrated for the real reason they exist. Sitting around on Thanksgiving and eating till you burst does not count as a celebration.
Rude people for NO reason
Fake boobs
Buying Christmas gifts for TONS of people - don't get me wrong, I am no scrooge. But really, does it make sense to buy me a gift card and then I buy you a gift card? We could save the money and time and just shop for ourselves! I am a huge fan of buying for those less fortunate than ourselves, but I think the idea of gift giving has gotten OUT OF HAND =)
All fast food joints
The "war" on drugs
Brittney Spears - is she seriously still making "music"?!

My list is pretty similar to yours. We also have great drinking water, so with that I have to add "covered water reservoirs". Our town has been fighting the feds for years to keep our reservoirs open; we have a park that has three beautiful historic reservoirs. I'm sad they're going to be covered.
Also Lemondrops. I've gone to several events where that was 'the drink' for the evening. They're way too sweet for me and I'd prefer a gin martini.
Oh, and the ever-ubiquitous 'auto tune' thing that's invaded the radio. While it's somewhat a brilliant idea to subvert a tool which is meant to correct off-key/off pitch performances by causing it to disguise one's voice entirely, giving the "robot voice" effect, I think it's a cheap trick for those whose singing isn't actually up to par. It's like going to a lackluster restaurant that has great sauces to put on mediocre food.
My list could go on, but I'd just look like a cranky old lady, so I'll stop here.

*Sean Hannity (and I say this as someone who is firmly on the Right)
*manicures (but pedicures ARE worth it)

*video games
*The POTUS
*Mega-churches

Love your list. Since we haven't watched TV in nearly 4 years, it's amazing what my list would look like. Here's the cliff notes version -
1. Celebrity Anything - news, magazines, fashion, etc. - They use toilets just like the rest of us so let's move on already.
2. Fads - My family will look, feel and be dated without anyone's input regarding fashion, toys, parenting, food, diets, etc. We'll just march to our own beat.
3. Holidays and birthdays - oh my. Can they get any more commericialized? I just want to celebrate Christmas in July and Thanksgiving in the spring, sprinkling the rest of the biggies along the way as I darn well please.

I'm smiling because my first response is The Kardashians. Who cares?
- Justin Bieber's alleded love child. I'm pretty sure he's not yet capable of fathering a child...nor is he "interested" in doing so.
- Occupy Wall Street because they are making a statement that simply isn't being heard and is only making the lives harder for people who aren't part of the 1%, but work there.
- Smartphones because I spend my entire day on a laptop and have one for work. Sorry, but I just don't need to have instant access to everyone all the time. Sometimes I like being a little isolated!

I agree with most of these lists! Whatever Snooki is, she's there. And a LOT of the reality shows. Just don't get them. Except for Project Runway, I skip them all.
Anyone else have a thorn in their side from Tori Spelling? I see her everywhere and I have no idea why she's famous. No talent hack.
Gee, that's a little harsh. *snicker*

* "I" anything. Why did we allow ourselves to be brainwashed into a proprietary form of technology. No competition as far as most consumers are aware...because they do not look or investigate! They can charge whatever the hell they want now. All of you are hooked! It makes me insane! (and yes I am a techy based person. I love my MP3 player..a ZUNE which is a Microsoft product...and have a high end smart phone I love as well and an eReader!)
*Any reality show like Jersey Shore or anything close to it. I do like some of the competition shows like Americal Idol and the Sing Off, however.
Hey now! Easy with the vampire thing :)
Im pms'ing so I hate everything right about now.

Your list is pretty accurate, but I would add:
- ALL of the Real House wives (have no interest in watching them)
- Reality T.V. in general
- American Idol
- The Bachelor/Bachelorette
- The private lives of "consenting adults"
- Fox news
- The weight “ups and downs” of most celebrities
- Elizabeth Hasselbeck
- iPhone/iPad (maybe because I’ve never owned one and can’t afford it either, but I don’t feel the need to)

Most reality TV unless it's cooking related.
The "real" housewives make me want to puke - I wish they'd put the " around the real cause they're certainly not like any people I know.
The Kardashians - what have any of these people done that's worth watching?
Twilight - Buffy kick's its butt all over town. Better story, better writing. I just can NOT wrap my head around sparkling vampires.
Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving - unless you live in another country that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, they shouldn't go up till Nov. 25/26th.

* OWS - or whatever they want to call it and the nonsense that is ensuing because of it
* I agree with the divide this country is in - what a shame
* 2012 stickers for another 4 years of hell under Obama
* My love of reality TV (as annoying as it is, I find myself hooked)
* The insane amount of work in my MBA classes...
I could go on and on...but that at least starts the list.
Funny because this week I've been doing a loves and hates thing on my FB status :).

I agree with all who said the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, Real Housewives. The rest of my list is:
- Dancing with the Stars
- Nancy Grace
- The View (especially Elizabeth Hasselbeck)
- Glenn Beck
- Christmas and New Year's
- teacher bashing/union bashing
- funding a war but not education, social services, or decent operating budgets for cities and towns
- Twitter
- sports figures making MILLIONS then going on strike, and/or complaining that they have to sign with other teams to get "respect" and be "valued" as a player
- Abercrombie
I'll probably think of more later!!!!

I second the Kardashians and my all-time annoyed overrated person-
1. Paris Hilton - UGH! Why does the media care about her? She wouldn't have been able to do anything without the success of her parents and her sex video. What does that say to our youth?!?!?
2. The media's criticism of our politician's personal lives is way overrated. Every little move a politician makes in their personal lives someone has to comment on it. They are human, for goodness sake. Seriously, if they pass gas, do I really care??!!?! LOL.
3. Comedians that have to get their laughs from making mean jokes about other people. People who are really funny don't have to use others for their material!!!!
4. FACEBOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooooh...that felt good. Thanks for asking that question. :)

ALL REALITY SHOWS (except for the cooking ones, because in a parallel life, I'd love to be a chef). I can't boycott the Cash-dashians - oops, Kardashians, because I don't watch them in the first place.
Katy Perry - omg - I had her stupid song stuck in my head yesterday because they play her at my gym. GAH!
Partial to vampires, though, because I have naturally pointy eyeteeth and they are finally fashionable. For now.
